e-Electric Batteries & Chargers > Inexpensive LiPoly Charger

I am looking for a good inexpensive LiPoly Charger (<$100.00) to charge a 1320mAH 3 cell pack. I do not want it to be NiCad or NiMH capable. I already have an FMA charger for these types of batteries. I do not plan to ever need a charger capable of charging great than a 3 amp rate. Two chargers that I am considering are the Apache and the Kokam, which are both less than $80.00. Can anyone suggest any others or their preference between the two I listed?

Thanks,

Chad

I am using a BEL charger from parkflyermotors.

No bells and whistles - it does get warm during a charge but, works great. Can charge 2 or 3 cell lithium.

Nicest feature - low cost! $32

Hello

I have used the Apache and its a very nice little charger. I would defintally get it over the Superbrain. Infact do not even consider the superbrain; go to www.rcgroups.com and do a search under batteries/chargers.

Ack! Be warned. The Superbrain is not designed to charge LiPos. It will charge them, but with all the risks and dangers of charging LiPos with any charger that is not designed for LiPos and will only do constant current charging.

Yes. Eco8gator mentioned it. He and I are both quite familiar with the http://www.rcgroups.com/ forums.

Hey Eco8gator. There's another thread here "What Charger?" in the Main discussion area where I'm having trouble convincing people the Superbrain isn't a LiPo charger. Might want to put in your 2 cents worth there to!

Sell the FMA and get a real charger. Take a look at the Schulze 330d. If you really wan a Li-Po only charger take the Astro. However, the Schulze is well worth the money.

I bought an MRC Super Brain 969 Pro charger to charge lithium batteries. Are you saying not to use it for that?

What is a good charger to get then?

I doubt any store has them all.

It would take a while to list all the stores. First off though, what size packs do you want to charge?

I don't have anything that small, but I did a search and people seem to like this one:

Sorry. I just noticed it only goes up to 400mA charge current. It will work but slowly. This one is a bit beefier.

At the risk of being attacked by hpilotrc I would recommend the Triton if you want something more versatile with a screen. Mine works very well with my 2s and 3s E-Tech and Kokam LiPos.

This one : http://www.b-p-p.com/SC2.htm is slow in production or something so they aren't selling it right now.
