With Adelphia cable at my house I am averaging around 2000 down and 80-1000 up. I'm satisfied with it.

You think that's slow, I'm on 44Kbps dial-up. We are in a brand new sub-division and they didn't install cable or the telephone lines to get ADSL, how stupid is that? We can't even get cable TV here. We have to keep rebooting or we get kicked off line if there are too many people trying to get on. Our phone bill averages about $250.00 a month to call our ISP. The only thing we can get that's faster is a satelite dish, but that cost $600.00 a month and on top of that if we go over 3 mb downloading or uploading, eg sending messages, pictures, etc, we have to pay 15 cents a kb over out 3 mb limit. Not only that the maximum speed is only 300Kbps upload and download.

Take Care,
Cheers, Patrick

Saint728:
Direcway satellite is either $600 setup then $60 a month or $100 a month for the first 15 months, then $60 a month. Thats WAY cheaper than $600 a month and cheaper than $250 too. http://www.direcway.bz/pages/11/index.htm

"we have to pay 15 cents a kb over out 3 mb limit"---thats crazy, you sure your not looking at business class internet?...especially for $600 a month.

We don't have that company here. We only have one major cable/satelite provider in Australia, Telstra. There are a bunch of ISP's but they all run under the main one. I don't think Direcway will come out here to set it up and provide the service for it? I will also bet the shipping cost is going to be a lot higher then the $20.00 they have posted on their website?

My mistake on the post above, it's $600.00 for the satelite dish, then it's $450.00 a month if you sign a 24 month contract. That includes up to 512Kbps upload/download and 3GB monthy service. If you go over that limit it cost 18.9 cents a MB. This is the two way business class. I want this because the home class is only up to 256Kbps and 300MB monthly service and that cost $145.00 a month plus 18.9 cents a MB after the 300MB limit. Anyway you look at it, it's still a rip off for that slow of a speed. I'm from Hawaii and we pay only $60.00 and our cable was pretty fast there 1GB upload and download.

Currently connected at 24kbps!!! Best I can get here in the sticks. Its sometimes slower or not at all.

The DSL at work spoils me big time. Have to secretly load all the vids you guys post at work, burn them on a CD, and take them home

HAHAHA! Wow, now that is a bill and a half! There is no way I would pay it. They have to have had some sort of protocol in place to prevent someone from using that much bandwidth over their "yearly" rate. But about the only way you'd use that much in 30 days would be servin up some of the naughty stuff so I hope you made the money to pay the bill
