OK open up your MS word, start a new document and type in:

=rand(200,99)

Now press enter.
Don`t worry, it`s harmless.

Explanations are welcome.

That's not a bug, that's known as an 'Easter Egg':
A little bit of insider programming humor.
There are many of them in Windows and Office- if you click on a certain symbol, while holding CRTL, Page Up and so on, you get a list of all the programmers, or their photos, or other stuff.

I don't have the "rand" Easter Egg on my old Word version.

I don't think that's classed as an easter egg since it actually has a use. It's used to test word and printing functions without having to type loads of rubbish in. If you type =rand() you get a few lines of the same phrase, if you type =rand(200.99) then you get 235 pages of it, use lower numbers and you get less text.

Boy that would have been very helpfull in my stupid typing classes. The phrase the quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog or whatever is used for testing typing speed. I guess it has every letter of the alphabet or something. That could have scared the teacher a bit. couple hundred pages worth in a minute

I use that command regularly when I want to test printers @ work... at least the =rand(75) command... Great for testing printers to see if they're still jamming or not

I remember in Excel if you entered certain numbers into certain cells and hit return it would allow access to the game in Excel, you are like a heli controlled by the mouse, very sensitive, you are in a dark room and there is a light in the centre as you go towards it you see a headstone (like as in dead people have), when you finally get to the headstone it has the programmers names on it, dont remember the sequence, but i never seen that one before

I consider it a bug. Especially when I'm actually trying to write a document that contains the text '=rand()'.
