I am learning on a raptor 30 with this gyro and a 9202 servo, and I have had no problems yet.

I have had no problems with my raptor.
The only upgrades are SAB 550's glass blades and a clutch shim from heliproz.
The raptor is my first heli, so I have not flown any others.

I have had no problems with the gyro holding while learning to hover and very limited forward flight. It holds very well during wind gusts. It is a good beginner gyro in my opinion, but if I was starting out again I would pick up a 401/9252 combo.

ya know...

I have both: GY240 and GY401. The 240 is on one rap30 and the 401 is on a rap50. The 240 is running a JR537 and the 401 is running a S9253. I think that the 240 would perform much better if it were running a high speed servo BUT (i will leave the 401/9253 out of this because it is the bomb!! Love it) :::::
The 240/537 combo holds really well in hover and sideways flight,I can fly as fast as i can sideways and will not move! Even in backwards flight it holds fairly well. I am not sure if anything can be done about this though...when ever in forward flight and I commit a piro, it is not very constant. Slow going around and then fast coming back around. Now, that being said, i could probably move a better servo and/or better tail blades and correct that . I think if it were me to do all over and this were my only heli I would put the 401/9253 on it but since this is a play heli the 240 is great!

I removed the gy401/9253 combo in my Xcell .46 graphite when I needed a gyro for a new Fury. To get the .46 flying again I put a gy240 I had laying around along with a high speed coreless Airtronics servo I got a good deal on. The combo works very well. The .46 has an OS.50 with a muscle pipe and is a rocket ship even though it is not fully broken in and tuned yet. The 240 is surprisingly solid and I have not had any problems with it.

I will say that if I had to buy the 240 and the Airtronics servo new, it would probably be almost as expensive as the 401/9253. So buying new is not really worth it. Although I'm sure the 240 will work well with a lesser servo, the 401 combo is an awsome deal.

I have GY240 and the GY401. Both of them are great but, if you have the money go with 401. BEST BANG FOR YOUR BUCK.

GY-240

Mine works fine driving a Hitec 525 in my Raptor 30.
I'm just an intermediate flyer- loops, rolls, autos, etc, but this Sunday I asked one of the expert pilots in my club to give it the test.

Inverted backwards, flips, tail slides, stuff I didn't recognize
The gyro/servo worked perfectly. I think we were all surprised.

This is a stock R30 w/ an OS32 + 550 SAB F/G blades. Stock plastic tail blades.

Great Gyro

This is a great first gyro. It is super simple to set up and you can use a "standard" servo. I also like the fact that you can use it in either heading hold or conventional mode.

Keep in mind however, the GY-401 and the 9253 servo is by far the best gyro/servo setup out there (for the money). If you can afford it, save up for the GY-401/9253. Heli Hut sells them for $200. I know that is about twice the price of the GY-240 and a servo, but it is worth every cent.
