I just bought a Netgear wireless router (MR814 v2) and Netgear pcmcia wireless network adapter for my laptop (wab501) and also I got a linksys wireless game adapter for my xbox live.

I have connected the Router to my Desktop and the PCMCIA card to my Laptop and I am able to get on the internet with both of those computers. I am using Comcast Cable Modem. But when I try and log into XBOX live I get and error that says:

No DNS server addresses were received from the DHCP or PPPOE Server. Enter the DNS server(s) provided by your ISP in the network settings menu.

So I went to my PC and looked up the DNS server information and then entered it into my XBOX under the settings. But it still wont connect. Both lights on the Linksys game adapter are lit so it appears to be working but I wont connect. I have entered the MAC address in the access list for my netgear router and hit apply then I unplugged everything from my modem to the linksys and then plugged it back in starting with my modem to the linksys and it still wont connect. Iv restarted the XBOX and MY PC.. I also connected the linksys cat 5 cable directly to one of the 4 ports on the router and inserted the linksys setup disk and went through all of that stuff and still nothing!

HELP I don't know what is wrong.

well, if you can use the laptop wirelessly,
then most likely, either you need to
tweak the SSID setting on the
Linky Game Adaptor and/or, probably,
doing Xbox live requires that you
make some 'adjustments' to the
port forwarding setup on the Netgear
router so that Xbox information passes
through the Netgear to the Linky/Xbox.

Turns out that i needed to enter the mac address of my xbox into the access list of my netgear router then i reset everything by unplugging it and plugging it back in starting from the modem to the game adapter. Nw it works great. Thanks for the reply!
