Hello,

I have used Paypal many times, both for purchasing and selling and have had no problems at all.

Do any of you have any reservations about "hooking" up your personal bank account to add funds to your paypal account? It just seems like it might open up more possibilities for problems/fraud? Or do you just buy with the funds in your paypal account, and top up your account with your credit card?

I opened up a free checking account with a totally seperate address (my work address in this case) and only keep about $10 in it at any one time. When I want to transfer money to Paypal, I just put that money in the account and then do the transfer.

It feels safe to me at least to the extent that it does not involve my primary checking or savings account.

Just my $.02

Some of you may want to reconsider, I will only use paypal if I fund it from a credit card. My brother bought an item off ebay and it was defective. He had paid for it using Paypal. Some, say $50 from a Paypal balance and the rest on his credit card. When he disputed the charge through Paypal, they said as long as he was shipped something they would do nothing. The portion on his credit card he disputed through the credit card and got his money back.

Jeff

As far as Paypal and your bank account, It doesn't seem to be a pronblem. Just remember your purchases aren't disputable unless it's from your credit card.

I just transfer money from a usually empty checking account onto paypal when needed. Then if needed I transfer my money from saving account, onto checking account, onto paypal Seems complicated enough. At least I have time to think about what I am about to do with this method

Been using Paypal for years and never had any problems. Just make sure you stay away from those fake emails asking you to put in information because they are fraud. What happens is you fill them out and it send your information to a hacker who gets into your account and rips you off.

I'm sure there are rare times when someone gets ripped off but you can have the same thing happen anywhere. If you buy something off eBay just do the buyer protection that way you're guaranteed your money back.

Brad

P.S. my whole business is run with Paypal. http://www.lightmyworld.com
