I got my batteries from America
took about a week.

Consider waiting for the new TP cells due by Easter
good for 12C

I bought a RC car heatsink for my 600-17 .. worth it and a cpu fan.
simple and cheap
I know Dana (Lost horizon) melted the magnets off in his so be careful

Where are you finding 5S3P batteries? I can only seem to find 5S4P, and they cost more than I'm willing to pay. Besides, it seems that the 4S4P is a more versatile and stable package then the others. I can't seem to find anyone that has the Hacker C50-xx series motors in stock, so I'm looking at the Aveox motors now. The only problem is, I don't know how well they handle the heat.

You can get 5S3P packs straight from Thunder Power or from espritmodel.com. If you wait a few weeks you could probably go with a 5S2P of the new TP cells.

what is the advantage to running a 5s3p or 5s2p pack over a 4s4p pack besides having more voltage. i am looking to get a logo soon and was going to run a b50-13l in it with a phoenix 60.

Chopper D,
As you increase voltage, current requirements go down.

Here is a thread with a bit of analysis of this very issue: http://runryder.com/helicopter/t86751p1/

I've been putting some #'s together for different power systems. So far the 8s2p with either a B50-20L and a 13T or a 8s2p with a B50-15Xl and 13T, blow away any combination of 4s4p, and other combinations like 5s3p arent nearly as good either..

Flight times with 8s2p are only 2 minutes less (20 min as opposed to 22), overall amperage is half (therefore same flight times), and motors won't get hot. My current 4s4p can pull upper 60A's, the other 2 will pull low 30's max and will hold their headspeed under hard load far better like half the drop in RPM at high load. High V is the way to go as high current causes big voltage drops in LiPo, more than they do in NiCd/MH.

I have heard that the C50's don't fit well between the frames and may need trimming. I haven't tried to put my C50-16XL in it yet for testing. My previous B50 w/heatsink fit unmodified.

Don't get me wrong, 4s4p works very well, a huge improvement over NiCd/NiMH, this high V is another big step above that. Serious power...

i'm going to be using individual lipos as soon as i get them and can build them to whatever config. seems to be best. will the phoenix s.c. handle that kind of voltage. guess i'll wait to see which motor seems to work best if i go with the 8s2p config

Individual LiPos? Not all will work at that A in a 2p config... None of the current phoenix controllers will work at that voltage. Probably would let the magic smoke out of the controller. You'll need something like a Hacker 48-3p/Kontronic 30-8-30, etc...
