I'd like to hear from those of you that have built the HP5 (Ph3t) powered version of the NH-90 ... Does the fuselage come out significantly tail heavy ? im trying to plan in advance if i should start stuffing all my heavy gear (batteries, electronics, etc) all the way in the nose ...

thanx ,

Woj,

When I test flew mine, it was slightly tail heavy. However, I hadn't painted it yet or put on any details (horiz stab, glazing, cockpit, etc...).
I also don't use the stock fuel containers. I lay mine out horizontally rather than vertically so my COG is shifted to the rear a bit. All in all, it seems pretty much designed to balance out pretty well so I wouldn't be too concerned.

In my experience, most scalers come out tail heavy...

Thanx for your input edg .. that’s what I figured, that it would be slightly tail heavy ,…

Since I have highly modified my NH-90, i think i will stuff all of my batteries all the way in the nose, and place everything else as far forward as possible also ... On top of that, im planning on wrapping my exhaust pipe in heat blanket, and that probably will add up a bit also ...

all in all, i think my NH-90 will come in around 4 - 5 LB heavier than the stock set up (turbine) ... Im not worried about the weight however .. my bell230 weighs in like a pile of bricks, but flies great ... i would want to go with a 4 blade head eventually though ..
