| A little known and seldom used fact. Some places, AutoZ*** for example will, under certain circumstances, pay for labor on faulty parts. If you have to or chose to buy your own parts, check to see if it has a warantee. They don't advertise this for obvious reasons but they do do it. I was a machanic before my son was born and we did not offer parts. We would either get them from the dealer or go to a local parts store. On one instance a customer bought an alternator and 3 days later the new one went out as well. After a complete check of the electrical system and battery, I determined it to be a faulty alternator. It doesn't happen often but it does happen. The customer took it back to the retailer and complained and the retailer agreed to pay for the re-installation. I was quite shocked but found out it was common practice with a lot of retailers. The bottom line is ask questions. Don't take no for an answer. |
