I have been very happy with my AstroFlight 20/Castle Creations combo. I am using the same 7 cell packs that started out with the stock brushed motor that came with the kit.

Flight times are on the order of 10+ minutes and power is more than I need at the moment.

The mega 16/15/3 w/Phx 35 on a 9th pinion works great.

We are getting 12+ min on 8xHRSC 2500's

I'm getting around 11 minutes of hover now that the training gear is off
That's using the Hacker C40-12 and 7 cell GP3300 matched, and the stock 9t. The motor is getting pretty hot, around 160F when it's 50 out.
From what I've experienced, the more power the better, as it takes a lot to spin those blades up for quick altitude changes.

how are the astroflight and mega doing for heat?

They will all run "hot". The question is: What's too hot? Generally speaking, I think anything over 200 Deg. F is in the danger zone. Bad stuff can happen there. The magnets can de-magnetize or the glue holding the magnets to the rotor can fail. If spit sizzles on it, you better get it figured out.

With that said, most brushless motors will like to run above 85% throttle. They will operate cooler there because the efficiency is higher. Choose your packs and your blade grips so your in the +85% zone when flying.

Also make sure there is no unnecessary drag or friction in the rotating assemblies.
