I have to tip my hat to the folks at the JPL but they did it again. And they know what went wrong with Spirit and from more than 100 million miles away they can fix it. To me, that is impressive. If you compare what I witnessed, watching it on the internet, to the techkoledgy of 5 years ago, well all I can say is wow. Good job to all involved.

I have been impressed with what you guys have managed to do in space since I was a kid. I always wanted to be an astronaut. But i lived in Australia and that was never going to happen. Go Andy Thomas He's even from my home town. My hero
Even though another Aussie beat him years back as a mission specialist (Paul Scully Power) but he was a US citizen then.

Any way. I have a question which I may put to JPL.

They sent Galaileo probe into the atmosphere of Jupiter so they didnt contaminate the Jovian system with bacteria from Earth. But now they land probes and rovers on Mars. Do they not care about Earth born microbes surviving the decent to the Martian surface?

It's funny. We had Womera which is only 90kms from me now. That was to be Australias gate way to the heavens. We launched all sorts of rockets from there and still do. I just wish it would get bigger again so I can see some impressive stuff before I go.

all this stuff is cleaned and assembled in a super clean room.. there is better equipment now than when Galaileo was launched so the chance of contaminiation is virtually nil at most.

That's good. I hate to be the one to land and greet some huge slug like in "The Search for Spock" :-)

Hey just think of this for an idea
as a representative the rc heli community I volunteer to be sent to mars
to fly an electric heli with a camera for research that the rovers can't do
Now just to convince NASA to pick me? I'll try the time lag argument
I dont think nasa could fix broken blades, spindle and mast via a few software change's?

He could fly an electric, however, the atmosphere is so thin he'd need to run a headspeed of 10,000 rpm.
