Engines Plugs Mufflers Fuel > OS 50 Shim and 15%

Hey all, I posted this under Bladerunner but no one replied so here we go.

I took the engine apart last night to see if there was any premature wear like a lot of people have been experiencing lately. I also wanted to see if there were any metal shavings like a lot of people have found in the 50's. So I get it apart and find out that there is a head shim installed from the factory.

What I am wondering is that maybe if the guys who are running 15% through there 50's, were to remove this shim. Maybe just maybe this would solve some of the overheating problems they are having.

Don't worry I put the shim back in, but I am thinking maybe this would help.

I also did find one very small metal shaving on the head next to the glowplug. Other than that she looked good.

It seems like removing the shim would raise compression, thereby raising temperature as well. I run 10-15% in my sceadu with no problems. I can pull 14 degrees of pitch in normal mode, and the engine is still not getting very hot. Smokes well, and drops right into idle from an auto. I also run a CY muscle pipe.

Thanks, John Cadwell
