| No, you were clear........DUDENESS,
I was simply explaining that the intent of an eDrawing is so others CAN'T open or manipulate their parts.
Anyone that has the ability to publish an eDrawing certainly has the ability to save as .step, Parasolid, ACIS, .iges........and a variety of other files that can be imported and used.
In addition to what Torkroll said, due to associativity, if you open the .sldasm (SolidWorks assembly) you must also have the parts for that assembly.
However, anyone that has SolidWorks 2003 or 2004 can also save their assemblies as multi body PARTS (.sldprt). In this case the recipient of the .sldprt file would have what appears to be an assembly......only it is a single file. The recipient would also have the ablity to save the multi body part file as an assembly if necessary.
This would give the creator the security and integrity of their work because this is the equilivent of saving as a neutral file type......in other words, the multi body part wouldn't have any history.....just geometry.
Anyway, I thought that might interest some of you.
Thanks,
