Yes the Hacker was the clear winner in terms of performance, by a small margin. It is a good deal more efficient than the other motors tested. The Hackers are also available in really tight winding changes (like 8 to 24 I think). With most other motors, if you change the motor by one or two winds, you get something way different. With the Hacker the steps are small, thus allowing you to really tweek your setup.
Also Hacker has about the best product support anyone in the USA could ask for, Aero Model. They stock hundreds of motors at all times and can perform repair services.
Hacker also has a really good speed control. It starts every time, works with just about any motor you could think of, is easy to program, has nice programming features and is inexpensive.

Well put! The Tempest head would have bumped both the cost AND the weight up a good bit. That said, this is something I want to try soon.
By the way, unless you have a really bad crash and totally squash everything, there is a good chance the batteries can be rebuilt. Say for example, the heli went in on it's left cheek, most likely only the front two "blocks" of the left side battery would be damaged. Charlie has been known to rebuild packs. FWIW...
