It's working again. At a whopping 120 bps data transfer rate but it is talking to them. Now they just have to find out what went wrong in the first place so they can fix it. They must be using AOL.

Nah, they were trying to 'jump it over the lander module' and landed it upside down, they spent the last 2 days trying to get it to flip itself back over. So it had to be labled 'missing' NASA can't say 'one of our hotshot bit-jockeys thought it'd be fun to hot-rod the rover off the top of a mars rock.'

Shortly before noon, controllers were surprised to receive a relay of data from Spirit via the Mars Odyssey orbiter. Spirit sent 73 megabits at a rate of 128 kilobits per second. The transmission included power subsystem engineering data, no science data, and several frames of "fill data." Fill data are sets of intentionally random numbers that do not provide information.
