It's not missing. It's on Mars or my back yard. Depending on your perspective

Anyway NASA/JPL are trying to blame the Australian weather. Come on guys we know your trying to cover up a wrong program input

Seriously. I hope they get it back on line.

All they need to do is press the reset button on the rover...how hard could it be?

As long as they check to make sure it's got the latest service pack on it before ringing for support...

Correction there Ted. MS has had a change of heart towards Win98. They are supporting it for a little while longer as there are a lot of people out there who just refuse to roll over and say yes MS please @#$% me over again

They should have used Linux ... it would have lasted longer without needing a reboot

Jokes aside, I really hope it's a software bug and not malfunctioning hardware ...

OK, some little martian kid grabbed it and thought it was his new HPI Savage Monster truck.

He only ordered from Tower Hobbies 1 year ago and shipping was 7 million martian bucks.

I think they forgot to send the rover back to the docking station to recharge the batteries. They were so pre-occupied to roam Mars until it ran out of power.

did'nt the last rover actually have a problem with its operatiing system

They were saved due to the fact if had a load of debug code in it which allowed them to update the code removing a priority inversion on one of the tasks.

I think it had a low prority task that becuase it had not serviced for so long was made a high priority task which then stopped waiting for a normal high proirity task to complete but the low priority task was then caught in a loop.

THe ad's in the trash mags then showed a smoking rover hinting that if you used that particular vendors RTOS you were likely to have a problem

maybe not enough lessons were learned from the last mission

Makes you wonder if they programmed the fail safe feature correctly?
