For you Clinton supporters that like to credit him with the good times economy we had and at the same time blame Bush for the current economy, take a damned economics class so you have some idea of wtf you're talking about! And in the interim, look up the definition of the word hysteresis and think about how it applies to an economy as large as the one in the U.S.

I suggest you also familiarize yourself with an old Wall St. saying that goes, 'the bigger the boom, the bigger the bust' and how it refers to the cyclic nature of economies. Maybe when you start to understand these things you'll also begin to understand why in reality the sitting president gets either the credit or the blame for what his predecessor did or didn't do.

You guys are going to give yourselves heart attacks. All of these politicians are garbage. They all sell the American people out to the highest special interest bidder. I'd like to know when bribery became lobbying. Anyone who get their news from 1 or 2 sources like Fox and Rush is simply listening to what they want to hear. It's healthy to be skeptical of any person in power and any public person who tells you thats not patriotic has an ulterior motive that probably is not in the American peoples best interest.

I guess it's true what Rush says that if you don't have an oppion you can use his. There are so many things wrong with that statement. 1st of all Coloumbus did not has tree counters with him but like so many things Rush listeners repeat yur not bothered by facts. To believe that tree statement you would have to think that the ecosystem in America was not fully developed. I was not there but I believe that any place trees could grow they had already done so, or maybe you think Johnny Appleseed had something to do with it

You said the ash makes more soil and all this time I thought the leaves and old foliage made the best mulch and soil. I'm going to try to grow something in my fireplace ashes now I have to go I'll keep you posted.

I'm surprised in your neck of the woods they are not standard issue, that and a large can of OFF. I always heard stories about the size of the mosquitoes in Alaska. Yes they work very well, puts the fun back into flying on cold days. I'm burnt on this thread. I have no more to say. I know when I'm up against a better player, maybe full of Bull but a better player. Your screen name should be BullPitch. LOL. Just wondering

I just read this whole long thread and was just curious about a few things. Im just a college student with no worldly knowledge. Im sure Ill develop some more extreme views when certain policies start directly messing with my career in the future.

PullPitch, why do you think the sign holders get paid the same is engineers. Contractors aren't required to pay them that much by any regulations are they? Natural economic law would say there is a reason for that price. Im just asking what you think that reason might be. What would you say an engineering coming out of college could do to get their rightful monetary respect. What aspect of industry or of a company does someone with an engineering background make good money.

I read somewhere that dock workers in Cali get something like 140k a year because their unions are so strong. Thats crazy. The actual article I remember was about most overpaid positions.

I personally am not that worried about sending manufacturing oversees. People are saying we are sending wealth oversees, but if we are paying them such a little price for something worth a lot more, then the net would be wealth entering our country. We give them a dollar an hour, they would have to buy something with this American dollar, so somehow that dollar would get back to the US. Say they bought a candy bar with the money, its clear to see that the US is gaining wealth by exchanging a candy bar for a cell phone with a foreign country. Its sad to say, but we are benefitting from the low standard of living and poverty of other countries.

Of all the things I read, the most threatening to me was that people who are investing in their future through education are not getting as much return as they should. However, I began to think about some of the engineers in many of classes. Many students get D's and F's in their classes. Just because you sat through classes doesn't mean you picked anyting up. I really enjoy the material in my classes and I try to actual understand the material instead of just doign what is required to get and answer. I would say I have a very good GPA but I think its more important that one day you can actually make use of your skills. What is scary to me is that even though I work my ass off all the time expanding my repertouire of skills that I might make crap when I get a job because of wealth leveling programs set by government programs. I don't have as good of a perspective as many of you because I have never worked a serious job. So I want to ask you guys your opinion what I just bolded. What could I do to free myself of this fate that PullPitch is talking about.
