Every time a republican gets elected the economy goes in to the dumper and many jobs are lost. Finally America pulls their heads from their asses, elects a democrat and the economy comes back and new jobs spring up. Then after about 8 years everyone forgets how nice it is to have jobs and money and the process starts all over by electing a friggen republican again.

Thats because of the f**kin democrat that screwed everything up the last 8 years. Its not like the economy goes to **** the first day that a republican takes office. It takes a democrat a few years to do that and then it gets blamed on the republican

The economy was booming with Clinton, prior to the election people started to stop spending to see what the outcome was to be. Then came a republican president and panic set in, jobs were lost, people got nervous and quit spending money, this caused the economy to suffer. It's like this every time a republican gets in office. Why do we forget so easy.

Myself and many others are spending more since Bush took over because we are paying less friggin taxes. You democrats believe in taxing the hell out of people who try to earn a good living and handing it out to a bunch of deadbeats in exchange for votes.

Well, duh, I wonder why panic set in? Do you remember 9/11? It never would have happened if Slick Willie had kept his wick dry long enough to take Bin Laden when the Sudanese government could have handed him over. Clinton declined their offer. Now, we are having to spend money to catch the a$$holes that Clinton ignored for 8 years, and you have the nerve to tell us that Bush is responsible for all this? I shudder to think what would have transpired had Gore been president. I'm sure he would have had to have Kofi Annon tell him what to do.

As far as the economy, I recall, when Reagan was in office, the economy was doing pretty damn good. And, contrary to what your liberal buddies in the media are telling you, the GDP grew in the last two quarters of 2003 by 8%. Slick Willie never had an economy that went that good.

Well I'm glad that some are making money, I work construction and I'm lucky enough that 420 million dollar Interstate 74 upgrade project has been in the works for about 6 years and kicked off last year in this area so the construction trades are booming around here. But I hear of many jobs being cut, several factories shut their doors around here after supporting the community for many many years. Maytag closed their doors and laid off several hundred workers in a town 50 miles from here. We have many vacant stores in my town just standing empty and more to come after the Super Wal-Mart opens and Low Balls prices thus running all the Mom & Pop operations out of business. So by what we see in my area, the economy sucks. Keystone steel and wire has laid off many workers, they are a large steel fence manufacture in this area. All of these jobs have been lost within the last two years, something has to give.

victims of the media

i can only say that such hate is all based upon the 'reported' news...

often i find that facts are presented with a very sublte and suggestive biased format...

an example is Reuters, MSN, CNN, and Al Jazeera ( those are the ones ive tried...u can try others)

Try following the same story on each of thier websites...

I live and see it daily here. The last four years has been hell for many in my kneck of the woods. I'm sure parts of the country are doing well, I have a friend who is a retailer locally, his sales are down by up to 40 % from previous years, no one got off much money this holiday season showing that the economy is not in a recovery mode, people are afraid to spend. I hope things turn around after the next election.

Yea those stupid taxes that do unnecessary things like fund education. Who the hell needs that anyways. Bush has got a great plan with his no child left behind crap. Let's see, every child has to be up to standard by 2010, which is impossible. Sorry, but too many kids are ESE, SED, ESOL, etc. to be able to read/perform at grade level. So, when they fail to measure up, they'll cut money from schools. I guess the idea is with less money, teachers will suddenly be able to teach students more efficiently?

Don't me wrong, it's a nice idea, but it needs to be thought out a little more. I mean, if the school doesn't quite meet expectation they're going to wipe out the whole staff and start over?! There's a huge teacher shortage as it is! Sorry, I'll stop ranting now.

Here in California we spend more per child on school than anywhere else. Schools run into the ground by the liberals, social promotion, bilingual education and ebonics. Education on anything except the three R's.

So now they decide to end social promotion, but it won't take effect for 5 years, so five more years of kids coming out ignorant. Ebonics died sooner, because it was just too ridiculous. Bilingual still stands, keeping kids illiterate and segregated.

And get this, for every 30 or so kids there is 1 teacher. For every 4 kids there is one LAUSD administrator. Gee, I guess they just need more money so they can hire more union administrators and continue to let the schools rot and teachers face gang members who are emboldened because they never get kicked out.

California used to have the best schools in the country. They were bare bones and teacher based. Not any more. The department of education was created under Carter. Downhill since then when the federal government became a bigger player than the pta.

keepin' it real

You shouldn't get so upset about surveys.

They are usually so distorted because:

i) The sample size is so small (typically 100 or less)
ii) It's usually only the activists that have the time and can be bother to take part (empty vessels make the most noise). Very rarely do people go out of their way to make a comment about be happy. Even in the model world you will see 10 complaints about manufacturer ABC. Everyone gets very excited about how rubbish ABC products are. But what we are usually missing are the thousands of unstated statements of satisfaction with ABC products.

There was a 'famous' survey carried out Heathrow airport. It asked travellers just two questions:

a) What is your favourite airline
b) What is your worst airline

The results

Favourite Airline: British Airways
Worst Airline: British Airways

That sums up for me, just how seriously surveys should be taken.

Cheers,

Nigel
