Being new to tuned pipes on helis , wondered if someone could help me out.
On the NT the pipe is rotating in flight ???? no vibrations that i can see to cause this , but question is the teflon coupler is quite hard . Do you normally replace them at this stage ??

Every time I take the Hatori 700 out of the coupler I tie it with a peace of wire at the back for a couple of flights. I have had it come out twice on me but after 3 - 4 flights with the wire it feels like if the teflon grabs the pipe and no problem from there onwards.

I just wonder if you have placed as documented a piece of the silicon coupler supplied with the Hatori between the pipe and the two carbon parts where the spring supporting the pipe is attached.

It has two purposes, it decreases noise and vibrations, and prevents such rotation.

Yeah , the silicon is at the back on the carbon supports and the spring is attached , I had to heat the teflon with a hair dryer and still it was a job to move .. Only him upstairs knows how it turned in flight ..

i did some teflon tape at the end of the pipe and the metal part coming from the engine itself, then put on the teflon tube

I've never noticed it turn in flight, but I have used two pieces of 'cut' silicon tubing at the back end of the pipe to give better clearance from the rudder push-rod. I also 'shortened' the spring (clamp) a little as I felt it was getting a bit loose .
