e-Electric Motors & Controllers > Schulze 18.46k ESC questions.

Hi all,

I have a couple questions about using the Schulze 18.46k ESC in Heli mode. (of course)

First off, I read in the manual that, it say's you can change the ESC between "Standard" mode and "Expert" mode. Do I have this right in thinking that they are talking about Governor mode (Const. rpm) and non-Governor mode (using throttle curve)? Or are they talking about another different feature again?

Also if I want to use this ESC in governor mode, do I need to plug the receiver cable into a auxiliary channel that has a 3 position switch or variable rotary knob and not into the throttle channel, unless I don't use it in Gov mode.

Thanks, Hayden.

Governor mode

Hi Hayden,

The ESC should be connected to the same channel despite iof the facts if it is in "constant rotor speed (governor) mode or not. The difference is in the tranmsitter programming.

I am using a following set-up:
idle N - linear setup (-100%,0%,100%)
idle 1 - const. set-up (70%,70%,70%)
idle 2 - const. set-up (80%,80%,80%)
Hold 20% (to bypass soft start)

All presets are additionaly mixed with knob (+/- 10%).

Usuall start-up procedure is to use N for the transport to heli-pad, switch to "1" and take-off. I can make a fine adjustment of the RPM by the knob during the flight ....

Please, keep on mind, that using the "governor mode" means that ESC is maintaining RPM itself, therefore the "throttle curve" should be flat.

... I hope I have described it in understandable form

Best Regards
Pavel
