Is anyone using 9252's on cyclic in there 3D NT, I know its not recomended but intrested if anyone is using them.

What is the power consumption like, ie how many flights before a charge ??

ds 8401 much more accurate than 9206
250 mah per flight of 15 mn
with sanyo 2600 mah
it seems enough

Hi,

The MFS design imposes to use servos with metal gears with a high torque.
It has been explained in previous posts. But if you think you know better, try it.

Discussed this with Russ Deakin on saturday and he felt that the 9252's should be okay as the main concern was current consumption on a 1700 mah pack..

As you can fit a 2400 scrc pack in the heli it shouldnt be a major problem...

The 9.5kg vs 6.5kg does concern me slightly but gearing up via the servo to bell crank linkage should cure it...

can't you just use something like a duralite pack with the 9252's?

Yup you can

but the torque is still an issue...

9206's put out 9.5kg compared to 9252's at 6.5kg...

The MFS system requires very high torque

I would listen to Jan, he is a VERY clever engineer.

then i would use 9451's on a 6V regulator... plenty of torque there.

the NT... can you get right or left hand tail... depending on the main rotor rotation?

The tail is pretty universal - you can fit it either side, either direction very easily - symetrical parts and belt drive allow

it won't play with the tail p-rod or anything?

If you want to change the engine direction, it will require that you change 3 spare parts :

the fan
the L shape part that moves the AC pitch slider
the guide of the main belt (2002 models have one on each side, 2003 models have only one on the "rotation" side)

and you should reverse the one way bearing for autorotation on the main shaft.

s9451 seems for me the best servo for the 3DNT, I flew one with these servos, it makes it very responsive. Power consumption is similar to the one of s9206, despite being a lot faster.

s9252 will ruin their nylon gears on the first "non kiss" landing; or worse on a "tic-tac" while you are flying...
There are two reasons why Jan recommend 9206, torque AND metal gears that will sustain the stress generated by the MFS.

Pascal, excellent info on the rotation change, very useful...

Think I am gonna go with 9206's as they are only £43 from RC Mushroom at the moment...

Better safe than sorry

Thanks to Pascal for the PM . . .I've ordered 9206's for both the NT and the Z2-Turbine with the "Rocket" Head.

Hi BIGRAGO
I figured if these servos are good enough for Curtis then they should be ok for me. The only problemis the power drain, but almost everyone seems to be using 2400 nicads and then its not a problem.
These definately are much sharper than the 8231's in my second 3D.
Talking to Curtis last year at the 3d masters , he said the mix of plasticand metal gears has less backlash and wears slower.
