Os 50 needle settings???

Well I finaly got my OS 50 fired up today, all of my instructions are in Japanese Could someone please give me the base settings? It fired up instantly and idled very nicely,but, I could not get it past 1/3 throttle with out the gyro freaking out! Very rough running.

I think it must be way too rich. I have the needle 1.75 turns out. BTW, are all OS 50 needles so difficult to turn?? I took the needle out and there is an O-ring in there, after I put a drop of oil on the O-ring the needle was much easier to turn.

I have both of mine running a little under 1 1/2 turns out but they are still breaking in. I'm running 30% WildCat with KSJ Muffler. And yes, the needle is tight at first. I'd rather have that than have it lose and vibrating out. You did ok putting some oil on it.

Glad to be of help. I've got about a gallon each through all of mine. starting to lean them a bit more. Still have pleanty of power though.

I have an OS 50 and I am well broken in now and am running around a little under 1 1/4 on the main and the low speed is just a few degrees clockwise (leaner). When I was breaking it in I was out over 1 1/2 turns and it ran rough and guzzled fuel. My gyro was going nuts trying to counter-act the "4stroke on and off torque effect" when I was trying to hover around a little while running a few tanks through. Once you start to lean the motor out all the roughness goes away and you will problably have to run a flat bottom throttle curve to prevent over speeding of the head. The OS 50 is one sweet motor!!

i'm running 30% cool power at 1 1/4 needle and is still rich, CY muscle pipe with left header on raven 50, more power than i'll ever need with this heli, great engine, c-ya ps i have the cool gold musclepipe, lol

hey all, i have a question that I need answered kind quickly. I just took my OS .50 to see how shes looking inside. And I wanted to make sure the cylinder wall wasn't scored or anything.

My question, is there supposed to be a head shim installed in these engines. What I am thinking is that O.S. installs these thinking that everyone is going to be using 30%. So the peeps who use 15% are getting improper compression. This might be what is causing the overheating probs for people using 15%.

Should I take the shim out and try it, or leave it in.

I am running Coolpowerr 15%
