Got Jet Fuel? Turbine Helicopters > Jetcopter Fuel Leak

I noticed several drops of Jet A accumulating on the bottom of one of my Jetcopter saddle tanks while refueling. Further inspection revealed a small crack in the tank where the rear bracket is welded on.

Has anyone had this problem and, if so, what is the best fix? I've tried JB Weld, but it still leaks a little. Both the tank and bracket are aluminum, which is not an easy metal to weld. The tank has very thin walls. Just a little too much heat and ... you've got a bigger hole! Anybody have any suggestions?

sorry for the post....

but...get a new one...that is the easiest.

On ours...I had to bend the legs of the tanks a bit to get the holes to line up...but no leaks.

those tanks are aluminum, take off the stopper, clean them off real good and take them to any welder that does alunimum. it should not be more than 20 bucks to take care of that, just to be sure though, call josef and see how much a new one is.

I say return the POS to Josef for a new one, he is super great with customer service .... .... I used to complain that i had to fly with the Dubro tanks, but i had heard of the aluminum ones cracking before .... also, try sending a PM to "optikaman" he might still have his aluminum tanks from his JC that he might sell ......

Looks like it's going to work. The weather has been kind of sour since I applied the stuff on my tank, but I did get to go fly a couple of times. No leaks so far.

Thanks for the tip. Warmer weather is on the way for you, so don't despair.
