Today I was hovering and flying around alittle bit my motor started to act up so I set it down and just as I did it died. Long story short, went to check out and found the barrel hanging out of the carborater. So I guess I'm saying beware and always check to make sure the retaining screw is always tight. Kinda curious if anyone else has experienced this. Thanks for any in put Steve

Hooked, I had this same problem. i did'nt notice till I got home and was checking everything over. I started to work the collective and noticed the throttle servo would jam up, then I noticed the whole barrel coming out of the carb. I lost the screw and had to make one, I had to grind the end to fit the slot in the barrel. This left a little bit of play when you pulled in and out on the throttle barrel, so I called Heliproz (where I bought my Raptor from) and told them about it. They said that it happens alot and that the screw needed to be Loctited in. They did'nt have any parts for the tt36 so they told me to call Ace. Ace sent me a replacement screw in about a week free. Also check the screws that hold the crankcase cover on because I lost one of them to. The tt36 seems to be running great for me just be sure to Loctite every screw you can on it. And if you Loctite the screw in that holds the barrel in be sure not to get to much in or it will gum up the throttle movement some.

Thunder Tiger 36 Pro

I have a Thunder Tiger 36 Pro engine. I broke it in on a test stand and then put it in my Raptor. I tried and tried to get it to run correctly, but I just could not get it to run correctly. It kept dying on me (good thing I know how to auto).

I had several of the heli "experts" mess with it over the course of a month. Guess what, no one could ever get it to run... Then there was this guy who had a Raptor with the TT36. His ran perfect. He said, "I know the secret, let me give it a try"! I said sure, please do...

Well, he messed with that engine all day but never did get it to run. As a last resort, he removed his motor from his raptor. He then took the carb and muffler off his engine and put them on my engine. He then installed my engine (with his carb and his muffler) in his helicopter. Guess what, it still did not run???

I gave up. I now have a $90 paper weight sitting on my work bench.

Bottom line, some people have had good luck with the TT36. But, most people seem to have nothing but bad things to say about them.

I put an OS 32SX-H in my Raptor and it has been flying like a champ ever since.

Hughes 500 Pilot I will have to agree with you that I've seen alot more TT36's that didn't run than those that do. I believe this is because of tooling. If you get one made after change over you'll probaly get a good one. But since there is no quality control obviously, they put a bunch out that are way out of tolerance. But if you get a good one you can't knock it, gives you plenty of power and will climb out like a rocket. I love my OS and I have several of them and I own one thunder tiger, and I can't bring my self to replace it.

TT 36 throttle barrell

This also happened to me. My Raptor was at least 100' high when i lost throttle response. I managed to get it down safely (Barely).I could not figure out what had happened, the engine was still running at a very high idle but i could not shut it down. Upon closer inspection, I could see the throttle barrel laying on top of the muffler, well this went on for another 5 minutes (melting the ball link off) untill I got smart and hit idle -up 1 and applied negative pitch. This (for some reason) was enough to kill the engine. My Raptor had landed in a dirt field and was COVERED with dirt.

The guys I fly with told me to locktite that screw right off. Seems predictable, no? Probably should be part of the raptortechnique notes.
