e-Electric Motors & Controllers > Schulze 18.46k in gov mode problem...

Running this on my Eco8 with a Mega 20/22/3h in gov mode....

after initial hover and a full collective punch up, the gov resets the head speed(lower). I was expecting this (its in the docs).

However, as I continue to fly, this continues to happen on hard climbouts, resulting in a dramatic loss of headspeed and rotor lift.

Wondering what I might need to do different to eleminate this effect. My Logo 10 on a CC P60 in gov mode doesn't act like this at all and maintains steady headspeed at all but the heaviest collective. (Logo 10, P60, Hacker B50 13L, 15T, 12 and 14 cells)

Thanks

CW,
I'm using the Schulze 18.46k in my Logo 10. I do not have the problem you describe. I don't have the "governor reset" you describe either. What page in the manual is that described on?

Here is my sequence for flying:
1) Normal mode, collective at full (100% throttle)
2) Plug in battery pack
3) Get the power up chime and double beep (full throttle sensed)
4) Collective to low (0% throttle)
5) Get a single beep (0% throttle sensed and ESC armed)
6) Bring collective up to half stick and flip mode switch to Idle-Up 1
7) Heli spools up
8) Fly

My throttle curve in the Idle Up modes are just flat lines at appropriate values for the head speed I want.

It sounds like you have a problem other than the ESC governor mode. Are you sure that your throttle "curves" are set correctly? Are you asking too much of the motor/battery/gearing combo?

I had the Mega 20/22/3H with 10-cells in the Eco-8 I had and it wasn't exactly a powerhouse. Plenty of power for loops, rolls, and the like, but not a 3D power plant.

What type of battery packs and what size pinion gear are you using?

I'm using 10 cell 2600 nimh
15 t pinion

It does seem to bog the rotor head when this happens, so it may be a factor in causing the effect.

I tried milder climbouts, at still had it happen.

Put a castle P35 and did so brief hover to climbs this evening.
same thing happens, but only on the most extreme hard collective climbs. I guess I'm just experiencing amp draw and underpowered somewhat. This is really just my cruiser. Logo 3d for tearing in up (well, I try not to tear it up..... my son (15 yo chases it around pretty well)

CW,
I was going to ask if you could try it with a different ESC. I ran that cell count and motor with a 14-tooth pinion. You may have it over geared. I seem to recall that a 15-tooth was just a bit too much for it and it bogged easily. It actually did much better with the 14. Maybe something to try.
