Bearing in mind that 3dpp uses 3001's on both throttle and mixture, its not gonna be as critical as we all worry..

I thought it was, but seeing his setup makes me think otherwise...

Reaction to needle tuning on a glow engine is slow anyway, so worst case scenario is a couple of revs with a slightly wrong mix...

I can live with that as long as the curve is right

pipe length

Hey Galifrey,

Let us know what pipe length you end up with.. I've still got mine at 440mm I think.. I reckon it's not quite right, but pretty close. Mine you, it's got so much power it doesn't really matter, so I haven't bothered playing with it.

Might do when I start flying again, haven't been out for ages. turned into a fair weather flier! Then the fair weather turns up but it's so windy I can't be bothered. Anyway, been concentrating on a domestic building project

One thing I have experienced though with the carb (ultramix?) is that it's starting to get so the settings keep changing... dunno why... anyone else having problems with this and know why? I saw some posts about putting a lotterle carb on it... Does this really work guys?
Admittedly I have recently changed from 15% wildcat to 5%, so maybe the carb will behave differently on lower nitro.. or do I have to change to the lotterle?

Galifrey, It's not that critical but if you set it up properly you will notice an increase in power and smothness. I know because it was the same for me.
the engine will run also on a poor setup but you just don't get the best from it

Believe me, I am a complete anal retentive, i will be going for the most accurate I can get... have a 9205 on throttle and hs81mg on mix... fairly close in performance...

Andy

will do, some indicate the pipe needs shortening for the webra, will let you know what I discover... Russ will no doubt be wanting to tinker with it, he has alreay indicated that if mine works well he is going back to his webra again... hehe

Wow

run about half a gallon of straight thru the webra today, circa 1300 rpm on the head, 8.3:1 gearing and its great...

Nice and rich still but hovers sweet even in high winds at 25% throttle and good cyclic response...

The 3DNT makes my fury seem lifeless...
