Nice

Great engineering on the turbine mount and exhaust. That will be cool to see fly.

That Exhaust SUCKS !!!!!!!! man !! Vario needs a scale exhaust on this .... plus, out one side, that would afect flight !!!

im really surprised by that ,,,

I've run this machine at full throttle and I'm convinced there will not be any problems with the thrust from the exhaust It's quite a big exhaust outlet and the thrust does not seem to be that great.
The exhaust is quite well camoflagued in the window aperature, especially when the rest of the windows are fitted. Plus the heat build in the fuselage is kept to a minimum.
The other bonus is the heli a perfectly balanced without the need for 2 ton of lead in the nose (no weight was needed at all)

is this the same way the exhaust is on the Vario CDrom video that was in one of the mags ??? i am curious to see how it looks when finished ... ... it does look like the exhaust could be routed to the scale location anyway .....

also Dave,

any word on the rumours of a bell222 coming out in this size from Vario ?

i cant wait to get my big bird !!

The prototype on the DVD had a proper scale exhaust, however, they had a problem with the heat inside the fuselage and I think that's why they changed it to what it is now. I really like it because you can remove the exhaust and the turbine without having to remove the mechanics.

I have not heard any rumours about new fuselages from Vario, they tend to keep things very secret until they want people to know. I think we will see more, but what and when I don't know.

As a spectator it is fun watching the turbine technology develop.

Turbine helis are at the point in development that the jets were 5-10 years ago.

when i build this heli, i think i will go with a diferent mechanics set (a top mounted turbine set up maybe like len mounts ... and just use the rotor heads from the XLV .. I guess its just me , but the exhaust out the window really bothers me ... I will just have to have it in a more scale location .... even if its not that noticeable, you will still see a weird heat-plume out the side ...

Turbines

Just read about WREN MW54 Turbo-prop/heli in MHW January issue.

Anyone have an opinion or practical experience with this new gas generator tubine as an alternative choice to JetCat or PJ-W-R for scale use?

Does anyone have videos of a WREN in flight or know if one will be at the AMA this weekend?

from what I have heard , the Wren's got plenty of power, but it sounds a bit "whiney" and high pitched ..... The HP5 i think has the most scale sound, that is nice and deep, and the PJW engines kind of fall inbetween .. (now im only talking about sound here .. )

From what i have been told, the Robe Curato that flew in the 3d masters was a Wren engine ... (If it was a SPS, its using Wren parts anyway) ... you can find the video of that somewhere, i found it through one of the links on RR ... .. (its a 70mb file, so i cant post it )

WREN

Wojtek,

Heard a video on http://www.perthrc.com.au/ it did sound a bit whining.

Right now, I'm kinda leaning towards the PJ-W-R it offers the best configurability and with an unusual scale model to work with, I may have no choice.

So settling on a turbine been delayed and little difficult, maybe I wait until after AMA this wekend.

As much as I like like having all that power, realism is only way to go.

Thanks for the info, will keep you informed.

Best regards,
ComancheDriver
