| I am having to make an educated guess here, but it appears that you are refering to the 8000mAh, 3S4P packs. If that is the case, $190.00 is a bargain.
The sticker shock is very pronounced when buying LiPo packs! However, if you look at it from a slightly different angle the pain might subside a bit. Purchasing one of these packs is like buying 4.7 packs of 1700mah NiCd cells. (8000/1700=4.7) 3S is about 12 volts, which would be 10 cells of NiCd. A 10 cell pack of good quality 1700 mah NiCd's would cost around $50.00. 50 multiplied by 4.7 = $235.00. Looks to me like the cost is about the same if you pay retail. $190.00 would be a very good price!
Another way to look at it, especially if you are converting over from glow fuel, is to tell yourself you are buying 20 gallons of fuel. After enough flights are made, the cost will be about the same as glow fuel.
Of course, then theres's the matter of a good quality charger. Since mine is used for all of my other batteries, I don't feel it is fair to consider it as part of the purchase price.
All in all, it's a matter of perception.

ps While I don't need any packs at the moment, that might change. If you do buy these in bulk and want to resell a couple, keep me in mind. |
