Hi Gary,
"80% on the governer in idle-up 2 and 65% in idle-up 1" How do you set it up on the radio. I only have a JR8103. I like to use the govenor mode and still have different head speed in different flight mode. Using a flat throttle curve only gives constant throttle not constant headspeed. Also, how do you setup the throttle hold switch when the ESC is in the governor mode? Schulze mentioned somrthing about using a programming mix.

Don I am no Gary but I'll try to answer your question.

The flat throttle curve you are using is correct. It send a constant throttle signal to the ESC, which the ESC will try to maintain a constant speed using its built in governor feature. This will work only if you set your ESC to run in governor mode (for Schulze Future, open 1/4 throttle when plug in battery). The 80% and 65% is simply where the flat throttle curve is set at. In Gary's example, his throttle curve will have a flat line intersecting the Y-axis at 80% for Idle up 2, and change to 65% for idle up 1.

Assuming you have a separate throttle curve for throttle hold. Just set that curve to be a flat line intersecting the Y-axis at a low number. The reason why you use a low number but not zero is you don't want to shutoff the motor completely.

Schulze mentions program mix because they assume you are using a slider or dial to control the throttle. Throttle Hold usually does not apply to slider settings (unless if you have a 9Z), so the PMIX will link the dial channel to throttle during throttle hold. If you are using the normal throttle channel, then this shouldn't apply to you.

Hope I answered your question.

actually, in throttle hold flight condition, I have it set to turn the motor off,..i.e. zero throttle. Only wimps bail out of autos . Really,.. the soft start isn't all that soft,..you can turn off throttle hold and be spooled back up in a few seconds.

I don't think governer mode is the reason ESC's are popping. It's the intermittent load with lots of cyclic compunded with lots of pitch. There is no difference in this when not using governer mode,.. the same load is applied. Governer mode doesn't "restrict" maximum current, niether does non-governer mode. If you're in governer mode and hit full cyclic with full pitch, you get the same loading as you do when you're not in governer mode.,

I was tossing up the choices of motors and ESC too. My final choice came down ot a HackerB50-11L, Hacker Master 48-3P Opto ESC, 13 tooth pinion and I'm running 12 Sanyo 2400 NC batteries.

Take Care,
Cheers, Patrick

Schulze

Recommendation for ShulzeFuture 45He or 45Ho seems to be obsolete at the moment - Schulze is providing Future UNI series that combines those two in one and even provide some additional features. It has two "Rx" cables, so you can choose opto or BEC just by using the right cable and the range of cells has been extended 6-12 with BEC and 6-18 with opto cable.

The fact that you can use both variant is great - it is possible for instance to use it for ECO8 (LOGO10)and afterwards upgrade machine to ECO16 (LOGO16) and use the same controler ...

I have checked this newer model recently and it is as good as the other stuff from Mathias Schulze )
