Safety - RC Helis are not toys > Rotor Head Strike

Yesterday I was having trouble tuning my X-Spec fitted with an OS 91 C- Spec and when I landed it it was idling too fast as in being too lean so I placed my hand on the head button to slow down the rotors but as it was very hot here ( 36 C and 80% humidity) my hand was very sweaty and slipped enough for my thumb to catch the blade holder and stopped the shaft from spinning but the blades then had enough inertia to swing and as the heli toppled slightly one blade hit me in the head causing a rather large lump and some considerable bleeding. The first thing that my club members asked was " did you damage the heli" . They could obviously see that it was not too bad but my pride was damaged by an incredibly stubid act. It reinforced the fact that ALL r/c aircraft are inherently dangerous but if you follow simple rules then all should be OK . I DID NOT and paid the price . The old saying is very relevant in aviation . "If you are in a hurry then you are in danger."
If I had simply waited for the engine to slow down this would never have happened .
Another lesson well learned.
Never be so complacent as to think you know all.
Even a beginner can come up with some great advice so LISTEN to all.

Rod,
Glad to hear you are alright. As you said, all of our aircraft are inherently dangerous. It's like starting a plane 10,000 times before, and loosing concentration for an instant and getting a finger or hand in the prop. A certain set of circumstances occurred and the culmination of these caused an injury.
It happens to the best of us.
Again, glad your're alright!
