Are there any conversions availible to convert the caliber 30 to belt start, or better yet cone start, or OS pull start? Putting together a new Caliber and I`m just finding the prices on the hex starter to be a considerable investment.

Heliproz carries a Mavrikk hex starter for about $9.

Or do you need a one-way start shaft for the Caliber??

If so Mavrikk $29.99; 803235

Can you explain why a one way start shaft? Haven`t recieved Heli yet. Also I had read on another forum that any decent hex starter would run $40-$65 dollars

Some helicopters have a one-way bearing built into the start mechanism. which means that once the motor starts, it allows the engine to spin up without spinning up the hex starter and start motor.

Some do not, so you need to buy a start shaft with the one-way bearing built in.

I am pretty sure the Caliber has a one-way bearing built in already??

I am sure someone will pipe up with an answer... I would post the question in the Kyosho forum.

The Caliber has a oneway bearing in the gear drive but the hex starter is direct on to the engine
so you do need a oneway starter shaft.

Hex start is the only way to go in my opinion. There are no conversions to belt or cone start available and if there were they would almost definately make it more of a hassle to start. The pull start is an option, but it robs power from the engine, and with experience of them in RC cars, the one way bearings in them become problematic within a few gallons.

Edit : Almost forgot, you do need a oneway hex shaft.
