One of the biggest problems with the LMH's seems to be the plastic hub. If you don't tighten the bolt enough, it will slip on the shaft. If you overtighten to eliminate the slipping, the hub will distort and cause a severe imbalance/vibration. Any known cures for this? Thanks in advance.

I think it is designed to "slip on the shaft". The bolt that intersects the notch in the MR shaft prevents full rotation of the hub by locking it to the shaft. Mine rotates about 20 degrees freely and this seems to be about normal. Overtightening will lead to a distorted hub and cracks in the hub after even mild tip-overs.
