Sylvain,

Definitely get the 8 cell pack. My stock ESC worked just fine at 9.6 and never gave me a moments trouble. I found I prefered the NiMH cells to the NiCD but either will work fine. If your charger can handle NiMH, the 2600's are a good choice..plenty of power and the weight is very close to the NiCD's. Make sure you keep the motor clean and the brushes fresh as well. Have fun!!

The original ESC will NOT take 8 cells! It will burn up after sometime.
It can be all from first flight to the 20th...

Get another ESC if you are going to use a 8 cell pack.

Tom,

Sorry to argue with you, but I had well over a hundred flights on the stock ESC with 8 cells and it's still functional today. The only reason I'm not using it now is because I switched to brushless. Mine is not the only example...I personally know of several others and have talked many many more. Just my two cents worth.
