Doesn't work over here, if a burgular breaks into your house and injures his self on your property, guess who he can sue?

Like that farmer who got sent to jail for shooting a burgular. The guy came downstairs at night at his farm and 2 burgulars where there so he shot one and got thrown in jail. Admitedly he did shoot him in the back trying to run away, but hey, shouldn't have been trying to rob him in the first place.

ridiculous

i remember in wood shop, we were all aloud to "turn" baseball bats on the lathes if we wanted. then one kid got pulled over for a speeding ticket and the cop saw the bat in the back of his car that he made in class. the officer confiscated the bat, and considered it a club (weapon). the cop also nailed him for a conceiled weapon because it was under the back seat. so from then on out, we were not allowed to make them.

Here in Canada....

If you post a "Beware of dog" sign and someone gets bit you are in big trouble !!

Apparently it only serves to tell the law that you indeed knew the dog would bite .

Somehow it don't seem fair...but it has stood up in court...sad but true.

Never, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.... Dennis

I have some faith is our justice system, 'ussually' when someone is assaulted in a break-in, law wants to justify means...Soooo, that basically means the law doesnt want u killing someone with a bat cuz they broke into your house.....but the law would excuse the 'usage' of a bat if it was used in a defensive manner (not killing the perp) ,,,,,, though our laws do not cover every possible situation, it does cover most...and thats the point...

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
it is by most means, impossible to verbally explain, defend and stipulate every possible social discrimination....

soooo until then, anyone who breaks into my house will get a bat to their head, enough to render them harmless...nothing more...no anger, just dissarmament.....

i personally think that before one complains about thier social/justice system one should try to think of better solution to the problem.. and maybe apply it???

one might find that pleasing 'everyone' is very difficult.....

Here in the U.K. we have what is called E.C.H.R. It is the European court of Human rights. The main part states that everyone is entitled to the right of life. This is a good thing, but there are lots of other parts which give criminals more rights than joe public. I am a cop and if I arrest a person and handcuff them and they get sore wrists because I applied the cuffs too tight, they can complain against me and sue because I have assaulted them. I cannot wake up a prisoner from his sleep during the night to interview him because he is entitled to a good nights sleep! If he tells me that he feels unwell, I must get a doctor for him even when I know he is just faking. If he states that he clausrtophobic and cannot be locked in a cell again I must get him a doctor. All the crimminals now know how to work the system.

The other name for the E.C.H.R. is the crimminals charter. I wonder why?

I was talking with my grandpa-in-law a couple years ago at a family reunion. The reunion was at an old school building where he was educated.

He told me how all the kids used to bring pocket knives to school and at recess they would throw knives at targets for fun. nobody thought anything bad of it, nowbody had any intention of "cutting" someone else. The times were different.

It shouldn't be about the weapons... it's about the people.

I think we as individuals should be able do do what ever is necessary to protect Family and Property by what ever means is at hand.

The laws should be changed to stop criminals from suing us for protecting our selves, family or property. The law should be such that a criminal has waived all rights once they have commited an illegal act. Unless this is proven to be an accident. Be hard to prove he broke in to a house by accident.

I am not saying that it's justified to kill someone who has broken into your home but if you feel your family is at risk by this person being there then why the hell should we be held accountable for a judgement call?

Only criminals have anything to fear from these cahnges in laws.

Australia has been going through a gun buy back scheme. I can understand that some people should not have the type of firearms they have. ie M16 or anything else capable of full auto. But this buy back only affects those who are honest abiding people (in most cases) The criminals still have their illegal arms and not much can be done to stop the black market in firearms.

Just another knee jerk reaction to a few firearm related deaths. Commited by criminals

PS I am not saying that Rodney King type events should be allowed either.

Well there is one way to stop crime in its tracks ,but even this would take a yr or so ... My idea is to dig a 500 ft deep hole in the ground and concrete reinforce it and the take the criminals in jail for life and thow them in NO FOOD WATER OR ANYTHING .. Maybe a bag of brickets and a match ... Then after that the only difference the the crime would be how long you stay in the hole .. For instance if a thief was caught he might get 5 mins in the hole .. Now this dont sound like much but you remember there arre a thousand other criminals in there that havent ate or drank anything for who knows how long and a new guy would be a steak for them ,all fattened up and ready .. The thief of coarse would have to fend for himself and hang on to the rope he was lowered down in for that 5 min .. If he couldnt ,OH WELL .. I bet that the first batch of assholes that seen that happen , would be scared straight and the kids that think they are up and coming wannabe hoodlems would change their ways real quick too ..Also people could sell popcorn and cotton candy while people watch and the casinos would have a field day with the bets on whether the guy would make it out or not ..

Oh my god.

Now my thoughts are.

Yeah I can see how that would work.
How the hell did you come up with that and

I figured I would hear from the bleeding hearts ..I came up with it after I lost a bunch of stuff in a breakin of my ex wifes a few yrs ago ..Thats what I felt like doing to them ..Only that was my second thought of what I wanted to do to them ..The first was alot worse and there was a possibility that I might get an innocent person close by in the explosion .Then I thought explosion and hole in the ground ,so I thought about it and that is my conclusion. That is about the only way to almost completely stop crime ..There will always be one or two that will think they can get away something .. But then again that would make a good side bet ....How many times they got away with it before getting caught .. It would even make a good reality show..The video games and reality shows that are on tv now are just about that bad .. And they do nothing for society .. My idea would help society in the long run and make people honest in the process ..After all it isnt any worse of an idea than bungee jumping without a bungee..Oh and I would put a grate over the hole so no innocent person could accidentally fall in..

There's only one way to stop crime.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. "Criminals breed criminals" To stop them you have to stop them breeding. Maybe we could make an ammendment to the 3 strikes rule you guys have in the US. Third strike is casteration without anesthetic.

I too have lost stuff by break in and felt exactly the same. I definately aint no bleeding heart towards criminals. Hang them all and let St Peter sort them out. Since he's supposed to control the pearly gates.

Maybe they could find the gene that makes people act criminally. Then we could screen the kids at birth and desex them then. I guess that would be a little extreme. Flame suit on

Speaking of reality shows. How about "The Running Man" the series
