Thunder Tiger Raptors 30-90 - Imperio > How to identify R60 v2?

I just bought an RTF R60 from someone who assembled it (installed servos etc) but never got to fly it.

What is a quick way to identify if this is a V2 model or one of the early ones. I am not sure how long the guy had it before he decided to sell it.

Thanks,
Angelos

The small tail gear sets in the front and back of the torquetube are white colored instead of pale red. There is a metal bar with rubber end caps at the front of the servo tray through the plastic loop. Those are the easy visuals.
Also... The main head block jesus bolt hole has silver paint in it. The autorotation bearing has sets of three small rollers instaed of one set of large rollers.

The gears are red, but the metal bar to hold the canopy is there. Now it gets more confusing.

As far as I know, the silver mark on the head may only be on the US versions. You can do a static tracking to see if the head is straight or not.
In the US, there were several "add ons" that were shipped to US Raptor owners. One of the packs included the bar and the new oval links and a-arms the second included the new headblock and tail gears, the third was a one-for-one replacement of the autorotation hub.
UK owners, I'm not sure what Amerang did over there, sorry.

How to

Yes the metal canopy support bar is there in some of the later V1 machines.
The small gears (not the big one) for the tail are all white in the V2 upgrade.

static tracking? rotate blades and check if the pass from the same point?

Pretty much.
The common method is to set your transmitter near the tail of your heli and extend the antenna to where it just touches the blade tip, rotate the blades 180 deg and see how close. If you're within 4-5mm it's good. Some of the V-1 heads were out by as much as 10-13mm.

tahnks Jeff

tracking is fine. I made a mark on the wall and the second blade passed no more that 2mm away.

I am beggining to think that I have one of the late V1s.
How important is to replace the gears? what else should i be looking at?

Also, is there a manual of the TT70 engine on ace's website. can't find anything

Cheers!

I ran the ORIGINAL gears in mine for over 6 months and never had a problem. I flew the tail rather hard too. When I built mine, I properly shimmed the tailbox for a perfect gearmesh. For more info on how I did it, see: http://68.43.117.149/reviews/raptor60/construction5.htm
