e-Lite Machines Corona > Airtronics RD6000?--or not?

Hi, I recently ordered the Corona 120, buying seperates. I still need servo's, gyro, radio, and Battery stuff. What I had in mind was; 2 HS-85MG's for cyclic, 1 HS-81 for tail, and the GY240 gyro. After all the reading I've done, it seems that the Futaba and the Hitec are listed as being compatable with the servo's I want. But the Airtronics RD6000 Super, is usually paired up with some servo's of which I havn't a clue what they are referring to, and I'm wondering how compatable the Airtronics and its reciever will be with my servo's. I want to buy the Airtronics that comes with reciever, batteries, and charger ( no servo's). Please give me your opinion on the Airtronics RD6000 Super. I have read some past forum discussion on this topic and it appeared that most people preferred the Futaba. But, I still didn't see any direct information that would make the Airtronics a worse buy. It appeals to me because it has a fairly large computer display that states what you are controlling, instead of just channel numbers. Also, it has 4 heli flight modes, compared with only 2 that the other radio's in the same price range have. I'd appreciate any thoughts, thank you, Steve.

RD6000

Steve,
I have two Corona's and a ECO-8 that I fly with the Airtronics RD6000. They seen to work very well with the radio. All of my servos are hitec. When getting servos make sure they are for JR or air shift. This is a good radio for use with other Heli's and it will also set up for a heli that is collective pitch.

The frequency shift doesn't impact the servos. The only concern for shift should be when matching a receiver to a transmitter.

Thanks

Thanks a lot for the info. Fireman Joe, and Lance. Here by St. Louis MO., I can't get any help from hobby shops concerning heli's other than their willingness to sell me whatever they happen to stock. It's like people know nothing about them and they're afraid of them, unless I join a club. So, I appreciate the expertise. I am a little confused about the suggestion of getting a JR or Airshift Gyro. Fireman Joe, do you mean I should get a specific gryo made by JR? Also, I don't know what you mean by airshift. If you see this, could you please explain, thanks, Steve. Also, thats cool you have an Echo 8. I will have one someday.

He means the frequency shift. Like I said, It doesn't matter when selecting a servo or for that matter, a gyro. The connectors may be slightly different from Futaba to JR/Airtronics but it's no big deal.

Your combination looks pretty good to me as is. They GY240 is a great gyro for the money.

Sounds like a good deal

THanks for the info Lance. Hey Tom, I'm definately interested in the RD6000 package you mentioned. I could be flying a lot sooner than originally expected. I'm just curious, what is the difference between your "original" radio versus the "sport", or "super" RD6000? Also, do you happen to have the manual,? Being a beginner, I'm sure I'll need it. After your next post on here, I'll email you, or you can email me, with contact info. WIth Christmas, money is tight right now and I just spent close to $300 on the Corona & related supplies, which will be arriving any day now. Still, within the near future (hopefully a week or two), I can get the money to pay you. I definately appreciate this and I noticed by your profile, your an experienced heli-man and a member of the IL. Whirlybirds. Thanks, Steve.
