Thunder Tiger Raptors 30-90 - Imperio > scale body for raptor

I was wondering if there is a scale or semi-scale body thats fits on the raptor 30 with little effort?? The raptor is a great little heli and there probably have been hundreds of thousands of these sold. I would think that some company out there would make some semi-scale bodies that would fit on the raptor. I'm sure if someone would produce these bodies they could make a lot of money. Even if they were not made of fiberglass i'm sure they would sell.
my raptor is just so ugly. but i love it anyway. It just needs some cosmetic surgery done.

have you seen that Robbe body?

I saw one picture of a sport scale Raptor 30 fuselage that looked awesome. I really don't remember who made the body, it may have been Robbe. I saw a photograph of one briefly on the Internet and there was very little info about the body. Since then, I haven't found any more info on it but I'd like to find out how to get one!

It wasn't a true scale body and it didn't look like fiberglass body, more like the Kyosho milk bottle type scale bodies. It was a sport scale full body fuselage. I don't think it is a copy of a real heli. It was very sleek looking and I think it was under 200 bucks. I believe it was/is sold in Europe and never exported to the US.

I built a H500E Century kit and put my Raptor 60 inside it and it's flying great! It turned out pretty well but it was a ton of work. You might consider a pre-painted fuse, it's worth the extra money unless you need a custom paint job or just don't like the factory paint scheme.

You should watch out for the Raptor collective pitch lever hitting the scale canopy. It won't fit inside some scale bodies without cutting a hole in the canopy. My pitch arm comes within an 1/16" of the canopy when fully deflected and the 60 size Century body is HUGE! I would have someone confirm the Raptor 30 will fit without heavy modification to either the body or the mechs. You might ask exactly what modifications are required for fitting a R30/50 before placing an order for your scale body.

The streamlined body you referred to is made by Robbe if I'm not mistaken, at least marketed by them. I believe they are in stock at Skyline Models in the UK. Bob J is a good guy and I have ordered from him many times. http://www.skylinemodels.co.uk/

Having said that, I am now under the impression that it is kinda cheezy, molded plastic. I think there are better options in fiberglass as mentioned earlier in the Funkey line (Century carries them). See www.raptortechnique.com for a number of these which were adapted to the Raptor 30 and 50. These are about all that is available and are pretty neat. If someone was to make a streamlined glass fuse ready to fit the Raptor 30 or 50 they could sell a ton of them. I'd get one for sure.

Also, you might want to check out other options if you just don't like the raptor canopy. I picked up a fiberglass one from Cyberheli that looks much better than stock.

Check out a picture of this canopy from cyberheli's site here:

That's the one!

Stet,

That is the body I was talking about! I sure do like that body style. I realize it is plastic and not glass but for the money it looks pretty darn good. I bet it is still quite aerobatic as that fuse is probably a lot lighter than a glass body. And it certainly is streamlined.

Thanks for the link!

I like that body style also, but it is flesh, not glass or plastic.
