Miniature Aircraft Nitro/Gas Helicopters > Start adapter??

I'm thinking I want to use the 6mm hex style start shaft on my Fury. There aren't any flats on the shaft to lock setscrews to. Do I need to pull the clutch/shaft out and grind some on or is there a better way? I have seen one start shaft that has a one way clutch that goes on the bare shaft. Would this be a better setup? My only experience is with my nexus which uses a standard airplane rubber cone. I still fly planes so I'd hate to have to buy a second starter just for the helis.
You guys know this cause you've probably been through it before.
TIA,,,basmntdweller

You can take a good size piece of Saran Wrap
(or equiv) and make a TINY hole in it and then
force it down over the bare shaft so you protect
the bearing from metal dust while you Dremel
a flat on the shaft. You want MA 4686-3
coupler.

You still need a 6mm hex wand w/ oneway
bearing and that is about $30. The MA
Proflex which attaches to the bare shaft
is about the same.

I have multiple birds and have standardized
on 6mm hex on all of them so all I need is
the one wand which is removable from
the rubber cup.

I know this sounds stupid. But is the say Vigor or Raptor a 6mm hex? I am about to build my Fury, and would like to have the same size addaptor that I have on my other helis. I guess I will have to drag out the thing and measure it.

I know, DUMB question. Just couldn't remember.

Build it, fly it, crash it. Repeat as often as needed.

Starter coupling

I am running 3 helis all with the 6mm hex. Some have a 6mm shaft and one has a 5 mm shaft. The Hex works great but I run the one way on the starter for my Scaedu. It makes it really nice to carry only one starter. The hex adapter for the Raptor is 5mm and the MA is 6mm. The Hex portion is 6mm for both.
