Aerial Photography and Video > Electric Camera Rigs?

I'm wondering if anyone makes an electric machine purpose built for carrying cameras. I have had a number of individuals pursue this with me due to noise concerns. The machine would be used to carry lighter weight digital cameras, call it a 5 pound payload max.

Yes..

Check out Jeff Scholls gallery.
He has been using a stock Joker for sometime as a camera ship. Just pop the 30 sized Airfoil mount on and go. He is hauling a Digital SLR right now so I am sure the all up weight is about 3 pounds. 5 is quite a load for even a gasser cameraship really.
The Remote-i site shows a Joker with a front mount camera rig on it. Course nobody has seen or gotten much more info from those guys.

Thanks Guys

I figured whatever I did would be based on the Joker.

I'll be looking into it. I do a lot of setup and assembly training here in LA and I get occasional requests for this kind of stuff and I'd like to be ready to jump when the opportunities arise.

Doooood! A Joker and an Airfoil mount would be a bitchin' setup!

They still talk like that in Cali?

Electric Camera Rig

Stet,

I am using a Maxi Joker with Flight Power LIPO's and an Airfoil V1 Carbon mount. The mount complete weighs 5lbs and the Joker handles it no problem.

This E machine.

Any comments on this Electric ship?

It seems to be a great alternative to a gas or glow machine. There is no smoke / exhaust to get into aerial images, its quiet etc...

I have been using airfoil electric system for a while it is awesome.

You just can't beat it for the money and the batteries are hassle free.
After listening to everybody on here I got a pair of eyetops. What a commendation I have now. I don't even have to take my eyes off the heli It is a lot easier to take pictures.

I don't know much about the Joker, it looks nice but it's just a little pricey for me.

Have fun be safe

E machine...

Tim, thanks again for the feedback its great, keep it coming.

Tim, do you usually have problems with a flight time only around 8mins ( quoted from the airfoil site ).

To me electric seems much better, no engine to tune or worry about glow plug flame outs, less mess, no smoke, less noise..

How many aerial photography companies use electric compared to gas/glow I wonder?!
I am going to post a poll.

thanks, hoping to hear back from you Tim ( and others ) on this E machine.

thanks.

Mark:

Well, I just sold my Freya-90 pending receipt of a Maxi-Joker for all the reasons you mentioned in your post!

I plan on using it with my AirFoil Helicam V1 mount.

Can't wait to get it running!

My Freya should sell within the next hour on ebay.

Got a buyer on my Raptor 50 as well so that should help me along a bit.

If the funds come in I'll order my CX next week too.

Decided to go for that in the evnt I want to have a play without the camera rig on.

What motr etc are you going for.

I'll go the 14-5.matching ESC,a nd lipos.

Servos will be 8231's on the , 401/9253 on the tail, seperate Rx pack anda PCM 649 Rx. (All sitting here waiting)

Cheers

Lee:

I was recently told by someone who has both that the 24-5 has rather weak performance compared to the 24-4 on the CX.

The 24-5 is the one to go with on the Maxi.

I thought about going for the CX, but then decided that I really wanted to save this for a camera ship, and don't want to beat it up as much as I would if it would do 3D!
