Just a quick question.....

Is it best to allow the engine to completey run out of fuel when ur done flying for the day.. ie run the engine till she runs out of fuel......, even though u plan on flying the next day?

I wouldn't say to run it out of fuel under a load, like hovering. What I do is this. After you are done flying for the day, pump the fuel out of the tank and before reconnecting the fuel line to the carb nipple hook up the glow plug and bump it with the starter until it no longer "pops" or fires.

As DWAYNET had stated it. If you run your engine out of fuel under a load, there is a good chance you will smoke your plug. If you don't, it will weaken the coil to the point it will choak on you when you least expect it! Upside down is the worst!!

After my experience with a little corrosion (see my gallery) I do the following: I hover down to my header tank (only two oz with a fixed pick up in the center. I then sit at zero pitch and let it run out of fuel. The leaves the engine "hot" I disconnect the fuel line from the carb and with the throttle wide open I spin it with the starter for about 30 sec. this will evaporate all the fuel in the engine and leave only a oil film. I then fuel it until full to purge the nitric acid fumes out of the tanks. Next I again spin it for 30 sec (fuel line still disconnected). This purges the fumes out of the muffler. I then de-fuel it which draws fresh air in from the muffler. This I hope will improve the life of the clunk line.
