Hi,

I just got my 636+ and found out that the switched output is an optional extra feature. Does anyone know how much this option is? Do I need to send the charger back to Germany for this upgrade?

Thanks!

optional feature?

Sounds like you should have bought the Orbit Microlader V6.3!

Does your 636+ have a 1 or 2 line LCD display?

Hi Michael,

My charger has a 2 line display.

It was indeed a tough decision between the Schulze and the Orbit charger. I spent about a full month researching on these forum to decide either the Schulze or Orbit. Well, the switched output isn't that important, but I just hate to see the panel of my charger with a hole missing the socket.

their email address is available on that page, drop them an email, they have always been responsive when I have asked them questions. (and I don't even own one!)

Switched Output

Schulze has a feature for a switched output for a turning on a Light or a bell whatever . . .this switch will toggle when the charge cycle is complete. . .

PS: The small hole on the side is for the Jack that connects to your computer on the +e model 636.

Thanks, I thought the switched output was only available on the 936, glad to hear it's available on the 636+.

I thought the +e is an older model. I believe the new designation for the RS-232 serial port is the the +RS. I've been having fun taking some old packs and plotting the charge/dis-charge curves.

It sure would be nice if they came out with the USB upgrade. I just got ThinkPad T40 and it doesn't have a serial port and I don't feel like buying a USB to RS-232 USB adapter....

They are available for as little as $17 such as here: http://www.buy.com/retail/computers...sp?sku=10273693.

I'm sure they will probably move to USB in the next generation of chargers. There are now easy, cheap, single-chip solutions for interfacing small microcontrollers to USB.
