Fury Extreme / Freya 91

http://www2.mailordercentral.com/he...item=1&mitem=22

It should have plenty of power/weight (still not as much as the Fury for people who need it for competition as the Fury is still lighter). What do people think though as a pure fun copter? It is $200 less than a Fury Extreme. I posted a similar question in the Hirobo section but I thought there was a chance that only Hirobo people would respond there which is not fair to Fury.

Belts have better survivability.

Fury frames are G10 Fibreglass, not graphite.

Bleach bottle canopy is essentially indestructable.

I will side with Wingtip. Fiberglass is better than plastic, more fragile and everything. Ducati fiberglass fairings are nicer than the plastic ones on Japanese bikes also.

And G10 is not fiberglass, it is plastic. It happens to have fibers in the plastic, but it is injection molded, not laid up. Same as a Raptor.

G10 is the exact same material that electronics PC boards are and it is a layered product.

As far as the G-10 frames having plastic with fiber in them...I'm thinking not (not positive though) I know the standard frame of the Freya are a fiber, plastic composite that ARE injection molded.

The frames of a Freya can be upgraded to Graphite. That's the same as a Freya EX then and cost is way up there just like the Fury Graphite frames.

Again this is one where I own both and I can say that it is a HUGE toss up. I like the added power of the 91 in the Freya. The Fury does me good with a 60.

If we're not going to pick apart each others
response and opinion, why bother asking?

OK, so the Fury has a OPTIONAL Graphite
frames. Buy that logic, the Freya has OPTIONAL
torque tube tail and a FG canopy.

The gentleman mentioned that there was a $200
price difference, wouldn't that lead you to believe
that parts cost was also important?

Please dont feel like you can speak for me.
I have no problems flying a plastic canopy.

As seems to be the growing case, you seem to
ask the question not to actually get information
but to massage your ego that a decision you've
already made is a good one.

The Fury Extreme is the best helicopter on
this planet bar none. I'm going to ask
Wheaties if they can put JK/TB/GW on
the box so I can be just like my favorite
action figures. Wouldn't that be the balls!

Rsilvers, judging by your posts, it seems you're still in the newbie stage, do you think either one is a wise choice?

l Love seen poeple going back and forth about helicopters on the market. I have seen both helicopters fly great in the right hands. Here is what I think. Just get a quarter out of your pocket and flip it Heads )(Fury) and Trails (Freya).

I myself flys a Freya and love it.

z11355,

You are not the first person to accuse me of asking a question after I have made up my mind. Vokul did that last week. He decided that when I asked about a Raptor 50 vs. Sceadu 50 I clearly wanted a Raptor 50. Well, the Sceadu 50 arrives tomorrow (maybe he used reverse phsychology on me?) I have not made up my mind on the Fury Extreme vs. Freya 90. All I said was I agree with Wingtip that fiberglass is nicer than plastic, and you think I clearly want a Fury. That is not true. I will balance that with the $200 difference in price. As far as these being too much for me right now -- they are in the sense that I still am capable of crashing frequently. But it won't keep me from buying one and starting to build it for later in the season. I just wish I could see them both in person. Clearly these are two top copters and many people want both so there is no need to get emotional from it. You can debate Porsche / Ferarri all day long. I thought I wanted a 911 Turbo but once I drove one I liked the Ferarri F360 better. I did not expect this. The fact remains, I do not know which copter I want but these posts help me.

"Out of the Box. It is a better heli.
If you want a precise machine Fury is it.
Yes it might be more, but why?
Lighter better built, Part are cheaper. "

Have you owned, built. and flown a Freya?

You can read about G10 plastic here:
http://www.basf.com/businesses/poly...fs/ultrag10.pdf

Some uses in RC will be a layered product, as if it were fiberglass or carbon fiber boards. Other uses will be injection molded complex parts which happen to have glass fibers in them.

Where exactly is Marshfield?

If it's anywhere near Foxborough, there
is a club down there and I know that at least
one of the guys flies Freyas. There is also
'ChristianZX' who lives somewhere on the
South Shore (he also sometimes flies in Foxb.)
and he has a new Fury.

Marshfield is between the Cape and Boston. 20 miles south of Boston. People call it the South Shore. Foxboro is maybe an hour north west. I think I will know what the Freya is like when the Sceadu arrives tomorrow.

Most of the time I fly in Medfield at the Charles River club, and I'm heading down to Wrentham hopefully this weekend to check out that field.

I would like to come and watch but this weekend I am too busy building the Sceadu 50. I want to get out and meet people at fields, but in general I want to fly as close to home as possible. This is one reason why I like helis over large airplanes. I can fly it on large private property (now if I only had friends with acres of land). I have my own insurance.

So where are you guys finding these "optional" carbon fiber frames for the Fury? I have looked on the MiniAir site and am at aloss as to where you guys have seen these. I will be building my Fury pretty soon, and would love to know where to find these. How much are they, if anyone knows?

Thanks

Build it, fly it, crash it. Repeat as often as needed.
