Miniature Aircraft Nitro/Gas Helicopters > What size tail blades???

I'm setting up my X-Cell 60 standard (older model) and I wanted to know what size CF tail blades I should run with 700mm mains?? I have a 31.5" tailboom ordered and I was told that I should use 95mm tail blades with it. Does this sound correct?

Thanks,
Shawn

With the 31.5 in boom you can safely go up to 100MM tail blades, but no farther.

I am running 107 tail blades (MS) using the 700 Rotorsport blades and using the 3mm shorter main shaft and have not encountered any troubles at all. I don't know why this combo is working with room to spare using a 31.5" tail boom!?
I have 3 shims on each side on the feathering shaft ( 1- thick and 2- thin).

Boom length

I run 97's on mine with 700 mains.

The clearance is fine for me, especially since I run tight head dampening.

BUT!!!

IF you (or someone flying your heli), is really a wild 3d flyer, you could have a blade strike.

I have seen it with the 95/700 combo. While the dampening was, in my opinion loose, it struck several times. There was no damage, but it certainly could.

Whenever you crash and total your boom and torque tube, just buy the long version (32.5). It will not hurt a bit to be too long.

With 680's, you can use any tail blades you want. (I used to use 107's)
But, I like the way 700's fly better.
