Aerial Photography and Video > RFC: A bi-weekly RAPV task for all

OK here is the idea (I stole)

Every week we have a list of photo tasks to vote on.
By photo tasks I mean setting a task for everyone to get an RAPV pic of a given subject matter or genre, light conditions or a pile of other photo types.

At the end of the week the vote closes off and the task is decided on.

The following week can be posting of shots taken according to the task we all voted on and at the end of the week the Task of the week closes off.
During that week we can also have suggestions for the next weeks photo task.

To begin we could have a week of suggestions for a task including the vote.
Next week we get at it.

One thing is for sure Ive always been pressed for ideas to go out and shoot, driving around looking out frustrates the crap out of me and having something in mind before leaving the house helps, saves fuel too.

Its Sunday morn 7:40 AM and looking like a good day.

"Fine. Cloud clearing this morning to become sunny. Light winds then fresh seabreezes developing this afternoon and evening. Max 25C"

Im sitting here deciding if I should head for the hills or the coast.
Not being able to earn money has left me at a looser end than I was before for subject matter.

Having a weekly task set here would give me and Im sure many others some help in deciding where to go..
I know Im not the only one who has this quandry of what to go shoot but at the same time everyone has ideas and if we throw those in and all decide on one of them to go and do I think it will be a good thing.

The devil makes work for idle hands and I think its about time a few here had more to do and this should fill in some time tuning RAPV skills.

We could vote in the best pic of the week from that lot but Im not sure if that is a good thing in here.
In fact best pic of week vote is a very bad idea.

I think circulating any faster than bi weekly will mean some are excluded being not around.
Every second week will mean pretty much everyone will pass by here and get to vote and have all week to get a shot.

If thats too frequent and people miss out maybe then Monthly

Comments please.

sounds like fun... might give me motivation to go out and fly in the cold

but I would guess it would have to be more like monthly. Maybee voting held on the first week and shooting the following three till the month is done.

I agree. I think it would be a great idea. I have always felt that it would be nice to focus more photography issues rather than almost completely on equipment issues as seems to be the case.

How about dwelling on COMOSITION for the first couple of shots.

The first set could be CONVERGING LINES as in roads, railroad tracks, crops, rows of buildings, etc.

Another submect might be S-SHAPES as in winding roads, wandering shorelines, etc.

We could also explore LIGHTING :

Monochromatic landscapes - tranquility

Saturated colors - vivid

Sun-up / Sunset shots

So, not to over complicate it, how about starting with "converging lines" and let's set a deadline to post like Dec. 15 or something like that...

Just ducked back in before heading off for the day.
Nasty foggy sky here for an hr or more early so I went and did a trim and checkover to see how thing shaped up.
Good thing too I found the exh nipple a bit loose from the last muffler clean I did, sounded a little lean.
Nice blue sky now.

Daggit, good idea, I suggest we go with that.

I like daggits idea, gives us more time to get pics and we only need the week to decide on subject matter.
If anyone isnt here that week they still have some subject matter for the next 3 to post to and can vote on subject matter for next round of photo tasks.

Flyingeye
Yeah that sort of thing too although I suggest we avoid things that can get a bit interperative (if you get my drift) but subject matter like converging lines etc is inert enough and lighting as in low light and the less interperative.
Im a bit of an Eye spy with my little eye kinda guy myself and was thinking we could have a mix of simple objects to take a pic of.
A Cow
A Freeway
You get the idea, just to mix it up and keep it easy and fun for all.
The aim isnt so much to assist with / share info to take better pics like at photo forums, it's more proposed as just amusment for the forum..

We may have to have a bit of a balance on the eye spy subject matter, I dont live to close to too many cows but lots of beaches that Im sure many of your guys dont live to close to beaches likewise.
Im sure we'll work that out.

Where to start, we need to start a list to vote on I think..
Maybe you can start a thread for submissions to the list and see what we get by tomorrow.
Once we have a few we can start a vote on them just to get things rolling for now.
Over the 3 weeks of pic posting for this subject we add suggestions to a list for the next round, after three weeks we put the list up to vote on in another post for the week,
After a week of votes we do the top item so long as its not a repeat of one too recent.
Sound OK??
Ideas>

Im about to bugger off after ma cuppa for a few hrs flying so Ill leave you to it if your inclined to make a start.

Cheers
