e-Mikado Logo 400 500 600 > 3D Flying with standard Logo 10.

Hi all,

I can't decide whether or not to pay the extra amount and go for the 3D version of the "Logo 10" or just get the standard version.

I know you can't decide for me. But I would like your help, so I can make a decision.

I would like to know the difference between the two, How restricted is the standard version to the 3D. Or how much better is the 3D version to fly?

I wouldn't be doing any full-on 3D, well not for ages, if ever.
But I would like it to be able to do stuff like stall turns, Auto's, Loops, rolls, etc.

Thanks, Hayden.

The difference in the standard model and the 3D version is that the 3D version has a lot of upgrade parts, such as carbon fins, aluminum swashplate, bb mixers and tail rotor bellcrank, 3D paddles, etc...

Overall the 3D version is a better deal, but they will both do pretty much the same stuff when set up appropriately. The metal swash is nice as it looks cool, but in reality, the metal swash will wear out sooner. Some of the other stuff isn't really necessary to do 3D.

So, overall, its a better deal if you're going to buy those upgrade parts later on, but it isn't going to fly much differently when equipped similarly.

One upgrade I'd recommend that the 3D model doesnt come with, (nor does the standard) is the aluminum hex spacers. Ditch the plastic ones, you'll have a tighter feeling ship, and dont' have to worry about stripping them out.

Doe's to the standard version "Logo 10" roll and loop OK with the standard paddles or doe's it really need the 3D paddles to roll faster?

Yes, the standard version will loop and roll just fine for starting out on 3D. The loop and roll rate will be slower with stock paddles but the heli will be more stable in hover then the 3D paddles

Yes, I have autoed the stock wood blades and they work good
I like the glass blades better for the woods are OK

If money is a issue get the standard kit it will get you in the air and flying
mild 3D loops and rolls that kind of stuff
IMO the only reason the 3D kit is better is if you plan on upgrading your stock kit
the logo 10 standard kit is $335.00 and the 3D kit is $479.00
So for a $144.00 you get all the upgrades
Just the Metal swash is $89.00 and Glass blades are $79.00 right there you have paid extra cash for the 3D kit if you just planned on upgradeing them, So all the rest of the upgrades that Paul listed are free

I think I will just go for the standard kit. As the 3D version will cost me about $300AUD more and even if I was to buy those parts seperatley it would cost me about that. I probably will get glass blade though as I don't really like wooden blades much.

Is their anything else important that may need upgrading?

Thanks for all your help guys.

Cheers, Hayden.

The most important things you should be looking into would be the motor and ESC. These two will make the biggest difference when flying regardless of what type of flying you will be doing. So, you should deside what type of flying you will be doing the most and get a motor that will accomidate you the best.

It won't cost $300.00 to get the 3D kit. The price difference is only $144.00 USD or $195.70 AUD. If you bought those parts after you bought the kit, you would be spending a lot more then that. I know because I bought mine before they offered the 3D kit and paid $500.00 for those extra parts they offered with the 3D kit.

Patrick,

Yes, I know your right in that it is only about $200AUD extra for the 3D version.

The reason for me saying it will cost me nearly $300AUD more. Is that I would have to add on customs charge's to the cost. But if I get the standard version I will not be charged. If I buy the parts separately later it will also cost me about $300, either way it's about the same.
It just breaks up the cost over a period of time more if I get the standard version first and if I find it need it or I want to upgrade it later on.

As I still have a lot of items to purchase to get this project of the ground.

I have already decided which motor and ESC. I will be getting the Hacker C50-13L and Schulze 18.46k.

Cheers, Hayden

Ahhhh, I see where your coming from. BTW, great choice with the motor and ESC. I should have went that route myself, but I didn't think I would be getting into LiPo's, so I bought the hottest motor I could find, the Hacker C50-11L. Oh well, I guess I'll just have to buy myself the motor your getting after I save myself $2,600.00 AUD so I can buy the motor, (3) 4S4P battery packs and (2) Orbit Pro chargers.

Take Care,
Cheers, Patrick
