How is it that in 1969 we managed to put men on the moon, but here it is almost 2004 and.....

(post your gripe below)

1. You can't buy a stack of paper coffee filters that aren't all stuck together!

"Can you hear me now?"

"NO!!!!!! You're breaking up!! Hold on...ok..I can hear you.
Go ahead.. What did you say??...DAMN!! Wait,You're breaking up again!! Hello??...Hello??..GGGRRRAAAHHHHHhhhh!!!!!!!!!!"

You know they DID talk to those guys ON THE MOON , 35 YEARS AGO!
But I can't have one conversation on my cell phone without being cut off at LEAST once.
Maybe I should call from the moon.

We can put a man on the moon but can't indicate the open end of a plastic trash bag so you can open it after you tear it off the roll.

It's ironic you made this post because I just said these word to my wife while taking out the trash about 30 min. ago!

We can put a man on the moon to prove our superiority to the world.

We keep on spending billions and billions trying to research Mars, a desolate and obviously dead planet, but yet poverty in our own country is rampant.

The poor OR the Space Program??

I'd rather my tax dollars go toward space exploration. Not to "prove our superiority to the world". But to advance science and technology.

The military and the space program sure get slammed by the "we have poverty here" people but they never look at the big picture.Without them you sure wouldn't have these little helicopters you're flying around AND thousands of other things we use everyday. Things that have saved countless lives and make living easier.I'd rather my money help humanity in that way. Not as some kind of welfare handout.

Here's the big picture. The space program isn't just about going to some "dead planet". It's about how we get there and what we use to get there and the inventions and innovations people have to come up with to get there. So many of the things we use to make life better were invented or improved upon by the military or the space program. This advances the human race.
It's this spirit of exploration that has made this country as great as it is.

The impoverished can be taken care of without having to sacrifice the things that we need to do to advance as humans.
You want to help the impoverished? Besides the government already spending billions on the problem, there are thousands of organizations you can join or donate to that will do just that.

The good thing about living in the United States is we can do both.
No need to get rid of one for the other.

cloudmax, I agree, well said! A nice example of a space programs' contribution that everybody will recognize are the communication, weather, etc., satelites that we use every day without a thought. Makes the world a smaller place, doesn't it?

Slightly off topic, and I don't know if this is true or not,
but it was said at the time of the first Luna landing that American woman spent more per year on cosmetics than the entire program ...................... makes you think
