Hi,

I am looking for a 240v to 12v power supply to run my Supernova at home. The Supernova charges at a maximum of 5 amps, do I need a power supply that will put out a continous 5 amps or should I get a slightly higher one ?

I will be using 12 cells with my Logo 10 either 2400's or 2600's, when they arrive ie new what should the first charge be 12-14hrs am I right in saying this is a C10 charge 2400/10 or 2600/10 I woluld need to charge them at approx 0.24a ? or 0.2-0.3a is ok ?

When I've finished flying with a pack and have let them cool can I just fast charge them or dicharge them first ?

If you don't need to discharge them after each flight how often and when should they be discharged and charged (cycled) ?

When fast charging what should I charge them C3, 3x2400 would be 7200 charge at 7.2a ? trouble is my charger will only do a max of 5a is this ok ?

Thanks

Simon.

Simon109,

To charge your 12 cell packs at 5A you will be drawing around 7A from the power supply feeding your charger.

If you do not want to build a power supply from a PC unit then purchase a bench type 13.8V regulated power supply. I did build a PC based power supply and had a few problems due to the fact the PC units do not give flat 12V out. When I put mine on a 'scope the output was fluctuating at very high frequency between 11.2V and 11.8. I bought a 10A Skytronic power supply from Cybermarket ( http://www.cybermarket.co.uk/ishop/923/shopscr96.html) this was the chepest I could find in UK.

I will order a 10A from cybermarket.

Simon,

Depends on the battery but I dont charge them more than 1C so as to give them a reasonable life span.
