Safety issues

Pilot C is not thinking of the safety of Pilots A or B and with the death that occured recently. Pilot C's behavior should not be tolerated.

Gees can't Believe it actually went that far!

I have to say I am shocked. I am a newbie, so following local flying feild rules is a big thing to learn right now. Ok so if you are by yourself which you shouldn't be anyway when flying a Heli do what you want. It is only you that will get hurt, but when others are around you whether at a park, baseball dimaond, or what ever it is our resonsability as RC pilots to ensure the safety of EVERYONE! Period end of story, game over. If we don't we injur ourselves others, and it can not only causes lawsuites needless deaths, but also creates histeria, which can cause whole clubs to shut down. I can understand mabe pilot C had good intantions about what he was doing, but take the time to explain what you are doing to others so they don't freak out. Also it is a good thing that we all work together to ensure that we all follow local rules, for specific feilds, and not get upset if someone points out the error of our ways. I am in norhtern california, and the Santa Clara flight park, and Bayside flight park would have kicked pilot C out as quick as can be. locks would have been changed etc.
I am not sure if any of you are familiar with the Bayside RC club, but you should check out their rules. They are strick, maybe even to strick for some, but their incident rate is very low. hot heads don't stay in the club, and all those involded love the sport, and contribute to make it better for everyone.
anyone who thinks that Pilot A was wrong for asking what the guy was doing was way off in my opinion. Both Pilot A and C have the right and duty to make sure that who ever is at the feild with them is conducting them selves in a safe and sane manner. I equate it to keeping a friend from getting behind the wheel when they have one to many. They may curse the day you were born, but they will live to fly another day.

Ok Ok I will get off my soap box now.. )

Socal

Dr. Scoles,

I totally disagree with your statement: I'd like to remind all the so cal Carson flyers to remember to throw the glock in the field box....might have to regulate...

Instead, use a 12 Gauge, I've found from 50 yards or less anyone is considered a distingusihed expert!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's a much more efficent REGULATOR

Update

Well, Pilot "C" showed up at the field on Saturday. Fortunate enough for I was not there when the S#@% hit the fan.

Can someone update the situation? Maybe someone out there has a fit solution for this problem so things don't get out-of-hand in the near future?

Ok I got $50.00

Just want someone to take a video for prosparity sake...

Seriously thoug isn't their anyone you gauys can go to. I am not familiar with this feild, but the one's we have here in Northern CA are all private so any type of issue like this would go before a board, who in my opinion would kick him out straight away. Flyers who spend anyware between $50, and $100 bucks a year on dues generally take having a good time seriously and leave their bad attitudes at the gate.

Ok this guys name is Rodger and he's a told fcken mother! Last
Saturday this guy was out flying close to the pits. We had to retreat
to the nearest hiding spots until he was finished. When he was done
I introduced myself and the other guys that were out. I then very politely
started to explain the basic rules we abide by at are field. He started
walking away and turned and said "I've been flying here for two years
and can fly any way I feel like and if you don't like it get the fck out". And
thus the yelling begin!
It turns out he doesn't even know what AMA is and he didn't even put up a frequency pin. We did win the argument and he did leave after of course threatening to put me in a hole and you don't know who your
fcken with statements.
I would have to say this guy is without a don't the biggest loser I've encountered and hopefully he won't come back.
Oh and by the way I have never seen him at the feild in the past two years that the heli feild has been in existance. And he can't fly
worth a ****!

I cannot stand people like this Rodger. Sounds like a right num nuts.
In our commuinity we would sort that crap out asap. it's just out right lethal what he's doing.
Now I must admit we have all probably done something we shouldn't have in the past ie flying to close to ourselves or an out of bounds area (not over people however) but have thought to ourselves "that was bad lets pay better attention" our someone has said "Hey you shouldn't do that" Thats normal and take the advise being the mind of it's saftey and you can never be to careful.

but this guy must think he's god or something

FedEx him to N.Z so me and a few of the boys can sort it out.... sender pays

Those guys are way overpriced, I picked up 18,500 joules @10kV worth of caps a few years ago for under $400. Their highest power unit is 400 joules. Must be aiming for the eccentric portable market.

They're just using low ESR low inductance energy storage caps. I have an 8.5kJ@10kV cap off a goverment reasearch laser similar to the NOVA, etc. The second pair, 5kJ@10kV were from a 16 joule double-pulse Nd:Glass laser I decomissioned and designed for the same type of use. Granted that higher voltages will get you shorter pulses and higher peak powers tho, although you can manipulate in series/parallel to achieve similar. I was originally collecting caps for my amplifier(around 250kJ required on 16 - 6' x 1" flashlamps), but gave up and sold the amp.
