| Had an interesting thing happen at the Carson field today. I'll keep this short. Pilots A and B are working together on a heli in the pit area. Pilot C shows up and joins pilot's A & B about 10 feet away. Pilot C fuels up, fires up, then set's the heli down in the pit area and extends his antennae. Pilot's A & B get alarmed and Pilot A says "Hey, you're not gonna take off are you". Pilot C says "Yep". Pilot A says "That is what the pads are for, these things are way too dangerous to be taking off from the pits". Pilot C says "So what. You aren't telling me what to do". Tempers rise. Pilot A walk towards pilot C. Pilot C says "You don't walk to me like that" puts his transmitter down and starts going for his car as if to get something (at least this is how I viewed it, and I am Pilot B, the silent one). Pilot A wisely backed off. Pilot C then comments "You guys are actually scared of this thing? Pssss." He then spooled up the heli in the pits a couple of times, made some engine adjustments, then walked out to the pad and took off.
I don't know pilot A very well, only met 2 days ago actually. He has been helping me out, and is typical of the type of person I have met at the field so far. I don't know pilot C at all. Maybe he was having a bad day, I don't know, and I won't judge, but I will leave when I don't feel safe, whether it injury by a heli or another person with a bad attitude. |
