Thanks!

I have been using it for a while. I just went up to a Fuji S2. I think it takes really good shots. Most all of the pictures in my gallery are from that camera.

Cool Rig

AirShot,
Cool rig, and judging by the photos in your gallery, works well too. I love the retractable legs! That's a brilliant idea.

Thanks HM16 Seahawk

I wish I could take the credit, but I can't. Kevin at Rotary Aerials is the man! His sytems work really well. I have a new, more industrial type gimbal he built for me to hold my larger Fuji S2, I will try to get some pics in my gallery soon. It is an awesome set up! I still use my Sony, it has really impressed me with some of the shots that we have gotten with it.

I also use this camera and have had and continue to have great luck with it. You can use the optional wired remote quite easily for servo triggering of the shutter.

I'm running a downlink with a monitor. The transmitter antenna is the stock whip antenna and the receiver antenna is a Goof Proof Patch found on the rc-cam website.

Here is a full-scale image taken directly off the camera that I shot. Not one of my better shots due to poor sun angle(late in the day) and kind of hazy out, but it should give you an idea about the camera. This image was taken with a wide-angle lens as the customer wanted quite a lot of area and I didn't want to fly quite so high to get the shot without a co-pilot.

AirShot ever have a gear "hang"

AirShot,
Have you ever had a gear "hang". I have seen it happen on the real helos, H53...we were not too technical back then, standard procedure was to have someone run out, use a 2 by 4 to "unstick" the main gear while the thing was in a hover if the emergency blowdown didn't work. I was told at the time that the official method was to have a stack of mattresses stuck together somehow and land on that if the main didn't come down, at the time, no one had that ready....so went to plan B.
What contingency do you have?

And do you have a link?

Thanks

It's Amazing!

It's amazing how you post a query, and someone wants to spin it off into a completely new direction. HM16 Seahawk, I understand that your interested in retractable landing gear, but I started this post to get info on the Sony V1. God bless ya, but try starting your own post on retracts.

Thanks!

Time I moved to a digital for my still shots - so where do you get the electonic trigger for the DSC-V1?

Search the internet for RM-VD1. You should be able to find it cheaper than the $49.99 listed on sonystyle.com. It's nice because you can feel ok if you trash a cheap remote instead of your camera.

Andrew, thanks for the info - so the remote for the DSC-V1 does not plug into the Receiver, do you operate it with a servo pushing the button?

Anybody got one rigged direct to the Receiver?

I just used cheap servos to push the buttons on the remote. We have both zoom and triggering, but rarely use the zoom.

Here's a test image we took using the zoom. Note this was with a different camera we used before the DSC-V1, but it used the same remote and triggering method.

Playground Zoom Shot

I may have to look into the remote-i system next spring to see if it would give us any advantages over our lower-tech solution.
